Read moreIsolated and standing proudly on a hill with glorious views over the old town (medina) on the opposite flank of the valley, this hotel's gravity is its style and panoramic views. Quite smart and idiosyncratic with a large terrace to facilitate those glorious views. Good restaurant and bar. Well-priced for European travellers. Our room was a pleasantly long and quirky shape. No tea or coffee making facilities but there was a fridge. Sadly the fridge's temperature hovered around room temperature and there was traces of mould on the shelves (see pics). Not very appetising. Also the room hadn't been hoovered as we spent a few minutes picking up the remnants of the previous occupants crumbly snacks. The bathroom a bit cramped for storage space and a bit tired overall but practical enough. Evening buffet was exceptional quality for starters and main courses. Staff in restaurant, bar and reception all superb. Particularly the guy in the fez who took our cases and later guided me to the best views over the fence of the Marinid Tombs site next door (which is sadly closed for refurbishment). This remains an impressive destination hotel and it would only take a few management tweaks to get this the 5-star review it...

The main entrance was poorly lit, especially the pathway to the parking area very dark, surrounded by trees, with no lights, no proper guidance, and no visible security presence, which made it feel unsafe.
Once inside the hotel’s main area, things looked a bit nicer, but still very unorganized. There was no protocol or staff guidance … people were entering and moving around as if it was a public street. When I went to the café, it was almost full, but again, no system or staff to help find a table. I had to look for a waiter myself, but couldn’t find anyone available.
The aesthetic and overall atmosphere were very disappointing … outdated decor, cheap white plastic tarpaulins still being used, and worst of all, no air conditioning despite the heat. Sadly, I left shortly after entering.
It’s unfortunate because the place has great potential and could easily be an amazing spot if it were managed better and...
