First and foremost Moufid, our English speaking host of this Riad deserves a big compliment.
Not only did he make us feel welcome and gave us a small introduction of the riad and a few simple instructions to navigate the maze of the little streets in Fez, he went above and beyond to make the guests feel at home. From talking with the taxi from the train station to the riad, to the arrangement of the excellent local guide Mohamed, Moufid made sure we would have a positive experience in Fez.
Besides all those things, at our arrival late in the evening he personally guided us to a place for a quick locally priced meal and did this more then once!
Now about the accommodation: This Riad is within walking distance of the food section of the medina and close to the restored section by UNESCO. We had one of the big rooms on the ground floor and pleasantly surprised by it's size! I can imagine that in the high season it might be a little more noisy but lucky for us there were only a couple more guests in the other big room.
Breakfast is local and the selection of fresh bread was lovely, starting your day with fresh food, a chirping birdie some Moroccan music and a fountain in the background is a good way to...
Read moreWe stayed 3 nights at the Riad and chose the luxury room with a pool view, price was 104 euros per night.|I won’t mention the effort of the host who by trying to help us reduce the price asked us to cancel the booking online and pay him with cash on site , which was of good intentions perhaps but shady.|The Riad entrance is clean , however not the one in the pictures. The rooms are not worth the price , the furniture is old and not so well maintained and in the 3 nights we stayed only once the room cleaning was done and not to high standards.|Breakfast is terrible , no variety, cold bread and being Moroccans ourselves we can say when it’s not good.|The TV was advertised being with Netflix options , that was wrong and it was not working . The parking was ok but we could have gotten the public parking lot , there was noise in the room and bad smell in the bathroom. Only one person was doing host, cleaning person, cook!!!!!!!|There is nothing amazing about the service to be honest , it’s not worth the price and with the same amount you can book a 4 star hotel close to city centre with better service and view. We can’t recommend for anyone to pay so much and go there , choose other places that...
Read moreI will say that this place is very much a “you get what you pay for”. All three stars are for the host who was lovely & super helpful, and was always really great with his replies. The rooms are large & beautifully decorated, however the dampness from shower left both our rooms with a terrible odour & we constantly had to air the rooms out.
The location is about 15-20 mins walking distance from most of the places we visited so I would say it was pretty good but there are a lot more riads much closer to the heart of the Medina.
Breakfast was lovely, and pretty similar to the other Riads we stay at. Good selection overall.
We also tried booking a hammam through the Riad & I had requested for the name of the place and was not provided this by the host. The booking we made ended up being more than 1 hour late, the guide taking us to the hammam walked terribly fast & we almost got lost getting there & the place itself didn’t look great (we read the reviews when we got there & it was terrible!) glad we walked out & saved ourselves the...
