OK...not particularly glamorous but have stayed there 8 years on visits. Not for a romantic honeymoon. Great food and clean rooms which need updating but, hey, if you want four star then pay four star !! Good atmosphere in the dining room and banquettes for sitting to eat if you prefer them to more conventional tables and chairs. Don't rely on the air-con. Pretend it's like the old days when you just had the window open and all the sounds from outside interrupted your sleep!! You're in Marrakech for goodness sake!! Not some anodyne and vanilla city somewhere else. Just get out and enjoy. Place Jeema el Fna is 2 mins walk away. Don't resist it!! Ask hotel to get you a guide and also go on a caleche ride (pony and trap) from outside hotel. Souks and tanneries are a must. No point being here unless you just get 'stuck in'. Eat in the square at night. Couple of quid and your full of fab food. Don't get paranoid about bugs. Just use common sense. Bottled water only and make sure they are sealed when you buy them. Get your boots cleaned every day in the side streets. Costs 50p and helps others make a living. Whatever else you do....bve open minded and soak up the excitement...
Read moreIf you are seeking a basic cheap hotel and location is your only priority then this will suit you fine. I was part of a large group for this visit and it was ideal for facilitating us, providing a suitable communal area as well as the opportunity to all dine together.||I would never dream of visiting this hotel if I were not part of a group! The rooms were uncomfortable and very dark. It was very hit or miss as to whether the air conditioning worked and I didn't even have the use of a remote to control it - I had to get a member of staff to turn it on and then that was that! The wifi was not available in the bedrooms.||The shower was cold and the towel provided was disgusting. I tore one and then had to put the other one outside of the window because it smelt so bad!!||As a vegetarian I had my concerns with the buffet provided. When the staff said that a dish had no meat in it, this wasn't always necessarily the case!||I was very concerned about safety issues as it was very common to see exposed wiring from sockets hanging away from walls. This place is in desperate need of an overhaul!!||I've done cheap before but this place takes the biscuit.||Pleasant and friendly staff but nothing...
Read moreIt is a basic 3 star hotel on western standards so don't expect luxury!||But great for a budget traveller (paid £20 pn for room and breakfast)||Location is FANTASTIC, you are literally a stones throw from both the Koutoubia Mosque and the main square. The kasbah is about a 10/15min walk and the Majorelle gardens about 20/25mins, so you do not need to take a taxi to see the main sights.||There are many taxis nearby (fairly reasonable - 70ds to get to the airport)||OVerall I would recommend this place to this who want to be near the sights and are on a budget. If you want to see the finer things Marrakech has to offer, go to the Mamounia for a cocktail or tea, the casino also has a nice fun restaurant with live entertainment.||Wifi is patchy (couldnt get a connection in the room) but was decent in the main...
