The Le MAP Marrakech - Monde des Arts de la Parure museum is a unique cultural gem located in the heart of the Kasbah district of Marrakech. It showcases an extraordinary collection of jewelry, adornments, and ceremonial garments from over 50 countries, offering visitors a journey through the rich and diverse artistic traditions of different civilizations.
The museum houses approximately 3,000 carefully curated pieces, selected from a remarkable collection of 7,000 items gathered over decades by Swiss collectors Marlène and Paolo Bongi-Gallon. Each piece tells a story of craftsmanship, heritage, and the timeless beauty of decorative arts.
The architectural design of Le MAP itself is a masterpiece, featuring an octagonal light well that bathes the interiors in a warm, natural glow. The three-floor structure, covering around 1,400 square meters, is thoughtfully arranged around this central well, creating an intimate yet grand exhibition space. On the upper floor, visitors will find a suspended garden hosting Le Shams restaurant, where they can enjoy homemade local delicacies while taking in breathtaking views of the old city, the Atlas Mountains, and the nesting storks—symbols of peace in Moroccan culture.
Reaching the museum is simple. From the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, visitors can walk towards Place des Ferblantiers, then follow Rue Ksibat Nhas, where clear signs lead the way to the entrance. Nearby, bicycle parking is available, and most Alsa bus lines provide convenient access to the medina.
Le MAP is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 AM to 6 PM, with the last entry at 5:15 PM. As part of its commitment to cultural exchange and artistic appreciation, the museum offers free admission to Moroccan students every Saturday, fostering a deeper connection between young generations and the world of...
Read moreThis museum is absolutely wonderful! Tucked away in a pretty, quiet part of the Kasbah near the Saadian Tombs, I am surprised more people don't know about this place. Grateful my husband happened to see it on the map and thought I would enjoy it. Totally worth the 100 dirhams entrance ticket per person. Outstanding collection of beautiful jewelry and dress mostly from across Africa, Middle East, and Asia. A feast for the eyes! Everything is artfully presented and the layout is comfortably spread out between two floors. Staff is professional and the building/interior is of a very high quality. There is also a small boutique/gift shop on the side. We were here in September when it was very hot and appreciated the nice air-conditioning inside and peacefulness. Worth staying to enjoy a meal or beverage from the leafy rooftop cafe. It is so lovely and service is excellent and professional. We had a lovely fresh, vegetarian lunch with homemade sourdough bread that they make there. Truly a delight and made our visit to the Kasbah memorable. Many thanks and...
Read moreA newer and lesser known museum, situated between saadin tombs and Bhadi palace but worthy of a visit. Entry is 100dhm so a little pricey for Marrakech but the expanse of exhibits and quality of the building and facilities make up for it(spotless bathroom and a lift between floors). Spread over 2 floors the quality and scale of jewelry and clothing is very impressive, the ability to examine the exhibits without barriers is welcome. The roof top cafe is very nicely done and is a lovely place to sit and watch the storks. Food and drinks are slightly higher priced than normal but quality and presentation is good. Range is a bit limited and we found no dessert for example free of nuts. The terrace can be used without museum entry. We did leave with a few questions, such as the history of the collection, where and how it was amassed, how does one even go about owning a samurai suit for example! Some more details of the back ground I would find...
