PUPUKE MANOR MOTEL — Hotel in Devonport-Takapuna

Arrived last Friday to discover that this property did not have enough beds for 4 people. They hastily tried to give us another bungalow but the two twin beds were in the lounge kitchen area and not acceptable. The pictures on their site are very misleading. Also be aware that the toilet and shower for 4 people are off the main bedroom, not acceptable if you have teenagers. They finally suggested a refund but said they would have to check with their manager. However the person on duty said the quickest way was to cancel the booking with Booking.Com. They stood beside me when I made the cancellation and told me I would get a refund. I have now received back from Booking.Com a message saying the people have come back to them and never agreed to cancel and refuse to refund any portion of our stay. To be honest, this is what you can expect from a motel with a price they asked and I was not expecting a lot.|What I really liked that was the fact that the family units were stand alone units with a small deck. It was a quiet motel and still close to takapuna beach. Less than 10 minutes walk. |The owner/caretaker works hard, but does not speak English. We did not have problems, but communication is difficult. |The bed in the living room needs replacement. The Iron spirals come through. We used the duvet of the main bed as extra cover.|There were not a lot of kitchen |utensils. Absolutely disgrace! From Drug dealers to prison release people to hookers & then you have winz clients living here. I feel sorry for the children having to see the way Adults operate, cleaner doesn't clean AT ALL and can't speak English! Noone to monitor the place at night time! You have people going into other people's unit and stealing!! SERIOUSLY, what is wrong with this place? I'm told the winz client is pay over $1200 p/week and can't have a simple oven to cook meals, washing machine is constantly broken (and one machine), 1 vaccum to used amongst them all!! Is this place being greedy and taking advantage of our most vulnerable people and the government system?? YES IT IS!! Boycott this MOTEL, WINZ need to see where they're placing vulnerable clients, especially those with children!...
