H & Co — Local services in Devonport-Takapuna

I have been going to H&Co for a couple of years now. As happens at salons, stylists have life changes and leave, which is what happened with my stylist, and I landed up dragging my feet in making another appointment, as everyone knows how delicate and important the relationship with your hair-stylist is :-)

I was contacted by Emma the salon co-ordinator to invite me back, and I communicated with Emma that my previous stylist understood my challenging hair, that bleaches incredibly fast, and I was assured that this would not be a problem. Unfortunately the bleach did work very fast on my hair during the highlights and my hair got badly damaged.

I was obviously pretty upset, but I can honestly say that I think my stylist was probably just as upset as I was.

The crew at H&Co immediately sprang into gear - looking at how to manage the situation. They did not ever pretend "nothing had happened", they acknowledged that this was a first for them, as my hair really does bleach ridiculously fast.

My review is really about everything from this point. As this has happened to me before, where my hair has landed up damaged, and salons have almost ignored the elephant in the room, and let me leave in tears, never to return. This was not the case at all at H&Co.

Emma organised for me to come back the following week for a treatment to help the rejuvenation process. My stylist went away and literally studied up on the best possible solutions, and they all worked together to determine the best way forward for me.

They got me back every week post the initial highlights for treatments, gave me some good salon products, and have established the best way forward with my hair.

I could not have asked for better treatment, especially when something like this happens to your hair and it feels devastating at the time.

They have all gone over and above what I have ever received in any of the larger "franchise" salons, where this happened 15 years ago, and have absolutely bent over backwards to ensure that I was happy with the pathway they were designing in order to get me to the hair that I want.

I work in as a Customer Success Manager in a totally un-related industry, but I know that it's not the problem that determines how the relationship progresses when something has gone wrong, it's the management of the problem.

These things happen - everyones hair is different, and this was an extremely challenging, but ultimately great learning opportunity for the salon.

I cannot recommend H&Co enough. They have been absolutely amazing in all their treatments, communications, and resolution of the issue.

I showed up to my appointment on time, had paid my $150 deposit but the stylist didn't want to put bleach in my hair as she felt it was to compromised, have no problem with that, totally understand. She said she could t refund me right then as there was no cash in site, and my deposit would be bank transferred back to me . Next day still no refund, so I called and was told that normally I would have to wait 5/10 business days which is ridiculous on its own, but instead they were going to transfer it back to me right then. Which never happened. Called multiple times within normal business hours today with no answer. Not understanding why I would have to wait two weeks to get my money back when it is of no fault of my own. A bank transferred clears in one hour. So I'm out a lot of money, my hair didn't get done and tbh the woman just kept looking through my hair with a sour look on her face, didn't smile or approach friendly at all. Just want...

I’ve been seeing Georgia at H and Co since August 2020 and I always look forward to my next appointment! The salon is simple but beautiful with touches like dried florals and and it makes you feel relaxed. The girls are always so friendly too. Georgia has looked after my hair so well, she offers advice on styles that would suit me, the best treatments, after care etc. and she’s super lovely and fun to chat with! I trust her with my hair and love being able to change up my style, knowing they use good quality products in the salon.
