Killarney Park — Attraction in Devonport-Takapuna

We set out for a short walk and stumbled upon a hidden gem in Takapuna — Killarney Park, nestled alongside the serene Lake Pupuke. Within its lush grounds, you’ll also find the charming Pumphouse Theatre, adding a touch of history and culture to the scenery.

The park is perfect for photography, kayaking, or even a bit of paddleboarding. The views across the lake are simply breathtaking, offering a peaceful escape right in the heart of the city. With plenty of parking, shaded benches, and open spaces, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy a snack, share a conversation, or have a small lakeside picnic.

Very nice park on the shore of the Milford Lake. Entry is from Killarney Street and easily motor able. Decent sized car park is available for a quick trip to the park and lake. The domain is well maintained and curated. Marvellous views are offered on a clear sunny day and one can easily forget that this is a place in the heart of busy North Shore. The aquatic life and birds make it a nice place for half a day's picnic or excursion. Ideal for bringing children too, caution needs to be taken near the lake as the sides can be slippery. The nearby theatre is a bonus if one is into arts and theatre. Very highly...
