Dirty unkept rooms that the management don't care about. How this lodge has ever been accessed as anything but one star is a mystery. Be aware it was used for emergency accomodation when social housing was sparse.||We were a large group booking and every single room was terrible. Several rooms had no hot water for the five nights. Each room was supposed to come with a fully equiped kitchen and not one did. One of the rooms had not one thing - cups, plates, cutlery, pots, etc., literally nothing. How can you service a room and not realised the whole lot is gone. There was none of the usual things you'd get in a bathroom, like hair dryers. They did provide an unusually large number of shampoo/conditioner and soap bottles/packets though.||My part of the group had a three bedroom unit that slept five. The kitchen and lounge was downstairs and three bedrooms and bathroom were upstairs. They said they could only provide one key for us though which was inconvenient. One bed had dirty sheets, the shower smelt like sewerage. One of our group removed a blockage of hair from the shower drain and it smelt better after that. The shower head was almost fitted in a corner and it was hard to get under it without hitting the shelf that was there. Some of the towels were stained quite badly.||We had no confidence the owners would do a thing. They had been called out out on the filth and it didn't seem to worry them.||The windows were covered in grime on the outside and the inside wasn't much better. The bath was dirty and had what looked like pubic hair sitting in it. The oven was covered in grime. When the toaster was used a cockroach ran out of it. The couch was covered in stains. Curtains weren't fitted properly. Cupboards in the kitchen had shelves hanging down and oddly, handprints with paint in some of them. The stove top was disgusting and missing a hob grate. The range hood had filthy filters. The blinds in the kitchen and bathroom were like children's ones with a Star Wars theme. It was bizarre.||Light bulbs were sparse and for some reason most were removed. Most of the power points didn't work. The stairwell to the second floor looked like an afterthought. The landing in the middle was against windows that didn't look like safety glass (we looked for the logo), which is illegal.||Overall that lodge should be closed down. It was filthy and...
Read moreI had nowhere to stay when Gayle pulled out her car to carry my luggage from the terrible homestay my college had provided me with because l couldn't survive even a single day over there. I was a college student , new to the country , didnt know a single person and was on the streets. Then Midway Pacifica Lodge came to my rescue. I had not made any reservations or anything but still they accomodated me at such a reasonable price that too with free wifi .They are the best people to stay at in new Zealand. It's not only about the neat and clean , always tidy ambience but their dealing with their customers is unmatchable. No 5 or 7 star hotel can match their hospitality , mark my word for that. It is very reasonable, plus you get free Wi-Fi. I think today's hospitality culture is forgetting how to make your client feel comfortable, especially when you are new to the country and I recommend you all out there in the industry to learn from Midway Pacifica Lodge. These guys are simply the best. I don't have more than 5 stars to mark here but they deserve more than a MILLION stars. Thanks for the lovely stay. I can't forget such a heart...
Read moreThis place is DISGUSTINGLY BAD. We were told at check in we had to pay $100 bond before we could even view the room. I said I would on the proviso I would get an invoice showing the refundable bond. I also stated I would take pictures of the room as we entered and when we left to ensure the bond would be repaid. The receptionist looked less than pleased but complied with my wishes. On entering the room it stank of mould and goodness knows what else. The plates and cutlery looked like they hadn't been washed but rather wiped "clean". The TV didn't work. The shower was filthy. The carpet was a piece that didnt fully cover the floor. 7 days later the bond still wasn't refunded. After an initial phone call I was told I would be called back on my number. All subsequent phone calls were sent to voice-mail. It took me calling from a different phone number and a seriously aggressive conversation before they eventually returned the bond. This company owns multiple motels in the area and the reviews on all of them are atrocious. Wellington doesn't deserve to have people like this ruining tourism...
