I was a bit disappointed with this accommodation if l'm honest. It wasn't what I was expecting and was certainly not worth the NZD 468 that we paid for our two night stay.|The room was nice and warm, a good size and was comfortable enough. The bathroom was also a good size and the shower was ok. They were the positive aspects of the room. The reasons I have scored as a 3/5 are as follows; I just think that the accommodation is missing some TLC and the personal touch' that you get from many hotels and B&Bs. It was all self ' check in' following receipt of an email from the owner with codes for the door. We didn't see anybody at all. In fact, our only contact with any staff in the 2 nights that we were there was at 9am on the first morning when a member of the team knocked on our door and asked if we needed anymore tea/coffee sachets. That was it though. We never saw anyone else whilst we were there. On one of the evenings, the tv reception dropped out for an hour and there was nobody around to ask for help to resolve. I had to fathom out a resolution myself. ||Although the room was comfortable, there just seemed a general lack of care. For example, half of our curtain was hanging off when we arrived and needed fixing but it had been left as it was for us to just 'make do' I understand that this isn't a major issue, but it just added to the absence of any TLC or that personal touch. There needs to be staff on hand instead of just letting guests accept what is there. There was a whiteboard near the porch area with the name of a contact to call if any issues but it felt like it would have to be a serious matter for this call. The reason for this absence of staff on sight was given as Covid!! The world needs to stop using this as an excuse for a dropped level of service. Covid is over now and normal service should by now be resumed. ||Finally, I think the description of the view from some rooms at the the property needs to be reviewed. The main pictures on the website and on booking.com are of an elevated view of the property so that you can see the lake and the Mountains. Other photos don’t take account of the foliage that has grown since the photos were taken. The reality is, you could hardly see the lake from our room unless you stood on your tip toes. I will attach a photograph to show the view from our room. All in all, it was a very comfortable stay in a lovely room but the owners could do much more if they are retaining the rates that are being charged. We would not return to the property if we visited...
Read moreThis accommodation was not our greatest experiance, on our trip around the south island, the room was not ready when we got there it was still being cleaned, as were others, so were told to come back in an 1-1,1/2 hours, as well we also hade to call about the accommodation to enter our room as the instructions on the main door told us to find our room number at the desk which was not there.|It was like a shoe box, no mountain or garden views as per the info received, also no bathrobes, slippers, only 1 set of towels as the room was not serviced on our stay, the view was only to back court yard that was backing on to the car park, there was one painting that looked like it was an after thought as it was to big for the wall it was on and jutted out both sides and interfered with the wardrobe access.|The Bedside lamp was wabbly and accesses to the plugs behind the side table were hard to get to for the lamp and phones as an armchair was jammed between the wardrobe and the bedside table.|over all, not an enjoyable...
Read moreWe booked this accommodation believing it to be a stand alone suite with mountain views. This was slightly misleading as it is a room with an ensuite and a view of the car parking area, in a house of mass occupancy rooms. That said the room were very well appointed with microwaves, TV, tea/coffee making facilities. It was spotlessly clean tastefully decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The ensuite shower was a novel cubicle like a space ship with lights, only the music hadn't been fitted. There was space to park your car outside on the driveway. The manager was very helpful and efficient. The internet connection was very slow but that may be due to location. It was a reasonably priced great place to stay in Tekapo away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre.|Al's Top Tips|Most restaurants are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. There is a fish and chip caravan called Better Batter in the picnic area by the campsite that does very nice gluten free fish,chips...
