Well, this place is hard to describe. To start, when I arrived, for sure I had the worst welcome at all of my hostels experiences ever! The receptionist was in a very bad mood and was rude when I asked about the breakfest and wifi, she said that she would tell me everything in the right time. And then she was around sending angry glances at everyone and at me, making me feel unconfortable. |The room was confortable, not many space but enough, the bed was good and the two pillows are a great thing, they also offer free towel, so that's a positive thing either. The upstairs bathrooms are tiny, but the shower is really good with amazing hot water, I got very good showers there. The negative point about bathrooms is that is just two bathrooms to serve 4 rooms (about 18 people). |Kitchen average, but small. Good TV lounge with lots of DVDs. Nice fireplace. Free computer with internet access. Free WiFi, and I think it is unlimited cause I had no problems with it. |The other guests are very friendly and nice people, that was very good, and as this hostel is so small, you can know more the people and always talk to someone in the common areas. We feel like we are with friends. The other receptionist, a younger and dark haired girl, she is indeed very nice, friendly and totally the opposite of the grumpy one. |Oh, and they offer breakfast too, but only if the kitchen is not a mess by the morning, this kinda force people to wash and put away their own mess. That's a good idea but can be unfair with the people who clean after eating, like me. In the first day I did not have breakfast because of others.|So, I would return to this place, but please grumpy receptionist, try to be kind with people, we are choosing your place amongst a lot of other hostels...
Read moreWe get it this hostel isn't the most flash, it isn't the biggest, the showers aren't in mint condition, but hey they have hot water and it's far from the slums.||||While I was staying there I was one of those long-termers who thought we owned the place (as far as I was concerned we did). But hey, we included anyone who wanted to join in on the fun; And if anyone had a grudge that we were there it was not for lack of friendliness as I am sure it was someone who just wanted their own space to come and go from - so if your're not into making friends, yeah this place probably isn't right for you.. or probably travelling at all for that matter. ||||The Last Resort is rather small, quaint, and the beds use 100% Egyptian Cotton the last time I checked, so that's right you're getting 5 star quality sheets at a backpackers price, posh as (and I'm not sure as of now, but previously pillows came with a candy on top too). There was a roboto girl that used to worked there that you had to be weary of if you caught her on the wrong day, but the place is under new management now so you don't have to tip-toe around at night anymore.||||Basically ~ the price is affordable and you get breakfast...you are literally in the middle of town under 5min from all the stores, shops, restaurants ... it's a fun place if you're looking to stay somewhere unique and special and its whole appeal is its alluring charm that comes with the essence of being in the tucked away lakeside paradise that we have all come to know as the beautiful and wonderful - Queenstown.||||If you're not up for snuggling up with strangers for movie night or taking part in weekly dinners, pack your bags n get outta here! This is the Last Resort. ||||||Kia Ora that...
Read moreOnly my favourite hostel in the whole world! Situated in central Queenstown makes this place super convenient, whilst still being hidden enough to be peaceful and relaxing. Great facilities have made cooking a real treat, the cleaner works super hard and it shows too. Comfortable beds and a nice warm shower is amazing after a long day of hikes. Always friendly people to meet and chat with. The owner is the nicest guy too, I will be sad to leave. The only place I will ever book here again. Thanks for providing such great services, advice and hospitality : )
The only problem is I...
