Pros: - Views are excellent - Huge balcony for the penthouse units - Location is right next to the center of town - Double showerhead was unique and nice - Daybed next to the window was nice Cons: - WiFi barely worked in our penthouse room…we had to stand in a particular spot to get it and even then it was slow - No A/C, just a fan - the room can get hot so this was a big letdown - Service was non-existent - no one cleans your room or gives you new towels or coffee. Front desk is only open certain hours. And you have to take the trash down or face a fine (the threat of a fine if the room wasn’t clean when we left was pretty distasteful) - Everything was old and cheap - barebones eco toiletries, no dish detergent, the carpets and elevator are a few decades old - Shower suddenly changes temperatures if you flush the toilet or turn on the other showerhead - probably because it’s so old - Parking was limited with narrow spaces in a tight garage - You have to take an elevator then go through a door then take a narrow flight of stairs to get up to the penthouse unit. Was fine for us but would not recommend for elderly people with heavy luggage - The balconies were actually not very private. The front part has lower walls which allows you to see into the neighbors room if you were to stand there - Room was non-refundable from the get-go…that’s fine but other hotels were more flexible Overall for an equivalent or higher price to the St. Moritz down the street, I felt like we got far less value. There are some small upgrades that could have made it a decent stay (WiFi, adding a window A/C or heat pump unit, adding conditioner and dish detergent and using nicer toiletries instead of the cheapest, supplying with more coffee, removing the threat to fine you for an unclean room, adding in bedside charging hubs) but overall didn’t feel like management was all that thoughtful in putting this package together and pricing it at above market. I feel like it’s misleading to call this a penthouse unit - that implies luxury when you’re getting econolodge/cheap airbnb quality. Surprised to see all the 5 stars on here! The view is great I will say.

We had a bungee jump scheduled at 10:00 AM in Queenstown, and the meeting point was right next to this hotel. Since we arrived early and needed a place to park for just a few hours, we used one of their parking spots thinking it wouldn’t be an issue, as it was only for a short time. We returned around 1:00 PM, only to find our car wheel was clamped. When we spoke to the front desk, they told us we had to pay a $150 fine because we were not hotel guests. We later found out that, according to New Zealand law, private parking fines are not supposed to exceed $100 — but they insisted we pay $150 anyway. To make things worse, they only accepted cash. We were shocked that a large hotel refused card payment. As tourists without cash on hand and with tight plans in the afternoon, this put us in a really difficult position. We had to walk quite a distance to find an ATM, withdraw the cash, and come back. When we gave the money to the staff member, he immediately tried to pocket the $150 without offering a receipt — which felt very suspicious. Only after we insisted, did he reluctantly go to the office and print one out. This experience felt exploitative and dishonest. Clamping the car is one thing, but overcharging, refusing card payment, and almost taking cash without a receipt is not what you'd expect from a professional hotel in a major tourist destination like Queenstown.

I really, really really wanted to love this place and we were excited to book a room overlooking the lake even though it was more expensive than some other options. However..... We didn't know there would be remedial works happening at the same time we were staying, and definitely didn't know this would be happening in the room next to us and above us until 8pm at night! HAD I known this I would not have chosen to stay and avoided the scaffolding by our window, the messy view to the town and the construction noise. I can say the staff were very friendly and the units are nice, but really, I think you need to let your customers know that there are works going on when they book. It really does affect the enjoyment of their stay and will give you a bad name...

We stayed in Apartment 4 - family of 3 in a 2 bedroom penthouse with kitchen - arrived New Years eve 2023 for a week. All the apartments are different apparently. The location of this property is excellent. Just a stone's throw from the centre of town - 2-3 minute stroll. View was spectacular of the lake and mountains - clear view and no obstructions. Apartment 4 has been recently renovated. It was a spacious and comfortable apartment. Very clean. Carpet in great condition; kitchen well-appointed. Nice comfortable lounge and dining table/chairs. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Shower had great pressure and great heater in the bathroom. Staff were excellent and obliging. Very easy place to stay and no complaints. It's not cheap over the new year period, but nothing in Queenstown is. I recommend this property - apartment 4 anyway. Can't vouch for the other apartments. The big plus for this place is the view from the penthouse apartments - the higher you go, the better it is. Also the proximity to town - perfect. It is on the main road that passes through town, but the bedrooms are back off the road so traffic noise didn't really bother us. Lastly, it has a washing machine and dryer in the apartment which were great. Fridge and microwave. Car park downstairs (locked with code) and also out the front if you have a car. Very pleasant and comfortable stay at this property and we're quite fussy where we stay as a family. We expect everything to be pretty spot on and it was. Apartment 4 has no balcony but has 2 big sliding doors that open the living area right up to the outside breeze. Some apartments do have larger balconies that you can walk onto and sit out there. You should call them and ask to confirm what apartment has a balcony before you book if that's important to you. It didn't...
