El Cielo by Villa Alejandro — Hotel in Bajo Boquete

Booked this place on airbnb. Although the property is very nice and the amenities are great, there are a few things that are a bit off.

1. There is construction on the next lot as of 5/20/2024. So if you plan to sleep past 8am, don't. My fiance can sleep through an artillery bombardment. Unfortunately, I can't and I'll wake up if I hear someone talking 2 houses away. So bed at 1am and up at 8am on my birthday. Beautiful

2. I decided to do some work video calls at 9am. In a matter of 15 minutes, the internet went out 3 times. Turned a 15 minute video call into 1.5 hours of texting. Extremely aggravating.

3. Check in is at 4pm. Check out is 11am. 12 noon would be more reasonable at this price point.

4. The A/C seemed to have issues. I set it at 20C and it got nowhere near that temperature. The A/C stayed on all night.

For the price point, ok I guess. It has a beautiful view outside on the balcony but based on our experience, we won't be back again.

The biggest fail was the fact that there was nothing posted about the construction next door. If there was a warning about it then I would have booked somewhere else. But sure, take my money and have...

Just stayed here a week ago. The individual casitas are very nice and newish. Its about an 8 minute walk to the main road. We rented casita #2 and they put us in casita #3. I assume they are identical and didn't think anything of it. The only issue we had was lack of hot water. We had warm water that would sometimes devolve to cool water for our showers. I did notify them and they suggested turning on the water slower (did not help). The second day it happened, they took there time responding and then suggested either moving us to another casita or allowing us to take showers at another casita, but it was too late, we had already showered and were leaving in the morning. The only negative here was their response (lack of?) to the hot water issue. I'm told they are all supplied by the same system and that there was hot water in one of the other casitas. I never got to go to this hotel. I had to cancel my trip to Panama. It is probably lovely. If you reserve this hotel, please do it thru a 3rd party like Expedia or Trip Advisor. If you book directly and have to cancel, you will have problems getting your money back. If you use Paypal, the money doesn't go to a hotel. It goes to the owner's private Paypal account. The hotel asks you to request the owner for a refund. They tell you that a Paypal fee of 3 to 5% will be deducted. This was fine. Only the owner submitted the amount I was supposed to get back, and they took out another 5%. I currently have a dispute going with Paypal to get my money back. The hotel messaged me to please close the dispute because it made their hotel look bad. It's a small aniynt of money that I'm requesting but this is very poor...
