My husband and I stayed 6 nights in Arequipa on our honeymoon. We could not recommend this family run hostal enough. It is located just a short walk from the historic centre and feels more like a home than a hotel. ||Everyone here is so friendly and helpful all the time. For example: We were allowed to leave our belongings in the room rather than check in and out again when we were away for a night at the Colca Canyon; they did our laundry (their suggestion); they phoned tour operators and taxi firms for us; and gave us directions and recommendations to restaurants. ||Our room was large and comfortable and the sunny terrace was a lovely place to sit and write postcards with a glass of wine in the evening. The breakfast is good and their home made coffee is the best I've ever had! If we ever get the chance to return to Arequipa I wouldn't consider staying...

But what makes it stand out for me is the lady who hosts it, she’s probably the friendliest person I have met in all of South America. Firstly she was happy for me to check in really early when my bus arrived before 6am (and I woke her up!), then she personally gave me tips for all the good cafes and restaurants nearby, she was happy for me to leave my bags there whilst doing an overnight trek to Colca Canyon, and then after returning on my last day she let me keep the room until 8pm and called me a taxi to the bus station. Great service and a fantastic place to stay...
