At first this place seemed perfect, amazing location (2minute walk to San Pedro market and supermarket, 5minute walk to the main square), clean, modern rooms, friendly owner and staff... But as the trip went on, it went down hill. I'm not a fussy traveller/ holiday maker and not one to complain but I lost my patience by the end of our stay. Me and my sister stayed here for 5 nights and our room wasn't cleaned once, this included the toilet bin which wasn't emptied at one point during our stay, not ideal in a place where you can't put toilet paper down the toilet. The hostal also has a weird system of not giving you a key to the main door, so everytime you wanted to get into the hostal you'd have to ring the buzzer, which is fine and pretty common in South American hostels, but when there is only one member of staff that can let you in and they're out on lunch you're left waiting on the doorstep outside the hostal. We were told to give this member of staff a ring if we needed to get in, not ideal and pretty costly if you're ringing a Peruvian mobile from an English mobile but we had no choice as we wanted to get into our room. The first time we rung him we waited 5mins (he was in the restaurant next door eating lunch), the next time we rung we were told if we could come back later as he was away from the hostal so we were forced to walk around town when all we wanted was to be back in our room after a heavy day of walking. The whole point of staying in a hotel/ hostal is having the freedom of coming and going as you please but here we felt like a burden if we left/ entered the hostal more than twice a day, we were also asked what time he should expect us back/ if we were in for the night and were made to feel guilty if we wanted to go out again. Re: the room itself- the bathroom shower was modern and looked great, but had no power and was hard to keep it at a constant, comfortable temperature. The bed also looked great but wasn't ideal, everytime you moved or even coughed it creaked the hell out of the place, the pillows gave me and my sister neck and back pain which resorted us to using our travel pillows for the majority of our stay. Also, we were told when booking the hostal it included a free airport shuttle, this isn't true, they sent us a cab to pick us up from the airport which I won't deny was great however we had to pay for our own taxi on our return to airport. Free wifi was another bonus to us when booking this place, but often didn't work, when we told them this, it turned out they switched it off, so everytime we wanted to use the internet we'd have to ask for it to be switched on. While staying in Cusco we obviously wanted to do Machu Pichu, which we decided to book through the hostal/ Groupo Pedro, we were told to wait outside the hostal and we'd be picked up at 3:30am, the bus didnt show up until 4:10am!! Just to round this review up, I don't want to put down this hotel as it is actually clean, nice and modern, they just need to reassess the whole having 1 member of staff thing as well as the weird not giving guests keys to the main door system, if they sorted this then the bed/ shower would be forgiven and it'd be perfect as it's such a...
Read moreSuper sweet señora, clean place, comfy beds, communal kitchen, secluded terrace. Great location in the city. Cheap place to stay in a cheap area to eat. Great people staying here; travelers, musicians, people working in the city. Very social and communal vibe. The only draw backs are one bathroom/shower, no refrigerator, you can't wash your clothes and no outlets in the rooms. But no one occupies the bathroom for long, you can shop so easily and frequently that you don't need a refrigerator, laundry across the street is cheap and there are outlets in the communal areas. Highly...
Read moreIf you're looking for a cozy place to stay with a really nice staff and good price, I would definitely recommend this hostal. I've stayed there with my girlfriend and we had a lovely time. The staff was really attentive to help whenever we needed something. And the transfer to the airport worked just fine. The location is good also. One of our favorite part was meeting Bryian, he promised us to visit Brazil! We're...
