La Casa de Mayte — Hotel in Distrito de Cusco

Rooms were comfortable and clean. Our visit to Cuzco was amazing thanks to services provided by staff at Casa de Mayte. Even though the restaurant next door is not part of the hotel service, it was very convenient and food delicious (thanks Isabelita). The very same people who picked us up at the airport (Fransisca and Edgar) organized all the tours and transportation for us, and after comparing and seeing what other travelers went through, we realized the extra few soles that we paid were worth it. Tours-transportation picked us up at the hotel and dropped us very closed. Hotel is conveniently located in the Historic District and only a couple blocks from main plazas, neighborhood of San Blas and the wall of the "12 angles' stone". Suggestions and advise about where to eat and how to handle the height were on point. I would recommend you take a private tour of the ruins and Inca temples around the city with Edgar during your 1st day of visit so you acclimatize and learn at the same time. Although the hotel gets a little noisy early in the mornings (6am-9am aprox.), once you sync with early tours and exotic beautiful destinations it won't matter anymore; you'll be glad returning to such a cozy and well located place. BTW, rooms have hot water, WiFi, cable TV, free breakfast, and did I mention location? I learned at the end of my stay that they also offer apartments outside the historic district, also in a nice neighborhood. Thank you very much Fransisca and Edgar. Located not far from the central square, Plaza de Arms in Cuzco, this hostel was lovely. We were promptly picked up from the airport (which we didn’t pay for, nor do I remember booking) which was awesome. The lady running the place speaks perfect English and man at the desk does too. Rooms are small but nice and have everything you need. A double bed, television, and bathroom. The room also has a heater. They also do laundry. Our room did not have a safety deposit box. They provide endless coca leaves and hot water to make tea. There is also breakfast provided - fruits, fresh bread rolls, ham, cheese, granola and yoghurt. It is opposite an amazing...

Vorneweg sei gesagt, dass wir hier in Cusco in insgesamt vier verschiedenen Hostels im gleichen Preissegment untergekommen sind. Bedingt durch mehrere Ausflüge sind wir im La Casa de Mayte insgesamt dreimal eingecheckt und waren in drei verschiedenen Zimmern.

Die Lage vom Casa de Mayte ist angenehm zentral. Allerdings ist die Straße die zu dem Hostel wirklich wahnsinnig schmal und auf dem Gehweg ist kaum Platz für einen Koffer.

Einige der Zimmer haben nur ein Fenster in Richtung des überdachten kleinen Innenhofs in dem auch gefrühstückt wird. Ein richtiges durchlüften ist so leider nicht möglich das fanden wir insbesondere im Badbereich relativ ungut. Die Badezimmer sind auf den ersten Blick zwar geputzt, allerdings merkt man, insbesondere wenn das Bad feucht wird, einen unangenehmen Uringeruch und das leider in jedem Zimmer in dem wir waren.

An der Rezeption wird sehr dürftig Englisch gesprochen und es ist schwierig sich zu verständigen, wenn man kein Spanisch spricht. Weiterführender Service ist hier durch nahezu ausgeschlossen.

Trotz mehrfacher Nachfrage wann das Frühstück beginnt, eigentlich um 6 Uhr, und dem Hinweis, dass wir schon um 6:15 Uhr für eine Tour abgeholt werden, war das Frühstück um 6 Uhr noch überhaupt nicht aufgebaut. So, dass wir mit knurrendem Magen 4 Stunden Busfahrt hinter uns bringen mussten. Sehr ärgerlich!

Die Doppelzimmer sind teilweise so klein, dass ist schwierig ist zwei Koffer zu öffnen oder zwischen Bett und Mauer ins Badezimmer zu kommen.

Aus diesen Gründen definitiv nicht die beste Wahl für diesen Preis in Cusco. Da gibt es deutlich nettere Hostels die z.b. auch einen netten offenen Innenhof haben.

Wir würden hier die Hosteria de Anita empfehlen, welches von der Lage her genauso gut ist und sich im gleichen Preissegment bewegt. Die gesamte Anlage ist deutlich netter und der Service ist um 100% besser.
