This place in the heart of Cusco Peru and found on Calle Saphy; La Cantina Vino Italiano is an Italian wine bar like no other! Raffaelle, the owner greeted us as walked in without reservations, and the staff quickly pivoted to find us a warm table out of the rain. "Where are you from and how did you find us, he's asked?" I respond, "We found you online and took a chance"...the conversation ensued... As we settle into the warm atmosphere and culturally diverse clientele, I feel so comfortable and at home. Our servers are so patient with our terrible Spanish as they respond with the best English they can muster. We meander through the menu, the first 12 pages being a best of wine list from Italy, "All Killer, no Filler" We start with a couple glasses of wine and some Bruschetta along with the Tavola Mista plate of choice cheeses and meats...We eat, we drink, we laugh we engage with another table of varying clientele and discover some new "instant"friends from Brazil. Raffaelle, checks in on us, offers some digestif, a homemade limoncello and finally we leave thinking we underpaid for this experience.
