Front desk staff service is terrible. Only Jhendy was helpful. (Not sure how to spell his name) haha. Accidentally booked the wrong night, and was not able to get a refund or rebook, I just lost that money because they are greedy. Definitely has lots of people here. So if you want social, this should be the one. Wifi slow and doesn't really reach the room. Also seems like smoking is allowed, just because there is an open roofed courtyard. They definitely try to promote their own bar. At least they turned off the music at a reasonable hour. That made my stay here almost worth it. Tons of people = no hot water. More people can also be loud, if they drink late, which luckily didn't happen. The 18 people dorm I stayed in had no windows, so the air was damp and hot from all the people breathing. (Plus later i found out i got a cold from this) My bed was also sunk in, in the middle. Lockers were nice, but provide your own lock. Towels not included.
Pros: It is close to city center. Maybe that and it's cheap. Each bed has power...
Read moreI have never stayed in a hostel before, and I'm a 63 year old woman. I was going to be in Cusco for a month-long Spanish language submersion program and just couldn't afford a hotel. Most people did not think I would last at a hostel --too noisy, too dirty, too "icky." PuriWasi was AMAZING! Everyone else that I saw WAS much younger, but I never felt like I didn't belong there, and other people staying there were very friendly. It was incredibly clean and the staff was excellent. Breakfast, coffee and tea were included and fast laundry service was available. The location was excellent, right off of Avenida Sol and a few blocks to the Plaza de Armas. And only 2 blocks to Maximo Nivel (my language school there). My ONLY slightly negative comment was that the internet was not robust enough for me to be able to work remotely, which I had hoped to do. There were activities some evenings, but I generally did not participate because the altitude in Cusco killed me. I HIGHLY recommend PuriWasi if you're heading...
Read moreIt’s good for the area, with room for improvement.
The good- The vibe is really nice. It’s clean. Location is walkable tithe city center. The beds were comfortable.
The bad- They seemed to run out of towels a lot. The breakfast is not good (no protein); we ended up paying for breakfast elsewhere. Our 4-person room only had 3 lockers. This was fine for our party of 4, but would not have been OK with 4 strangers in one room. One of the male workers kept weirdly/creepily hitting on my friend. She put up with it because we needed his help getting towels and directions and stuff, but behind his back, she didn’t like it. Staff should be more professional, but it was just that one guy. The rest were good.
All that said, I would stay there again. Good...
