I booked Olaza’s as a starting point for a month of adventures in the Cordillera Blanca. Tito, the owner, had been wonderfully helpful in the weeks leading up to our trip and came highly recommended by other climbers, so I was already confident we’d made the right choice.||After a long 24 hours of travel, including the overnight bus from Lima, we arrived exhausted and laden with heavy bags. Stepping into Olaza’s was such a relief—comfortable, cozy, and spotlessly clean.||We spent about a week in Huaraz doing acclimatization hikes and prepping for bigger climbs. Tito went above and beyond, helping us arrange a cook, donkeys, and transportation for our first big objective. Mornings began with a relaxed breakfast on the beautiful rooftop terrace. The staff were unfailingly friendly and patient with our terrible Spanish.||Between climbs, we could get laundry done, store gear safely, and always count on having a room waiting for us when we returned. The beds were comfortable, and the quiet, clean neighborhood felt safe while still being just a short walk from excellent restaurants, ice cream shops, grocery stores, and pharmacies.||Olaza’s gave us more than a place to sleep—it gave us peace of mind, a chance to rest and recharge, and the support we needed to make the most of our time in Peru. Excellent value for money. Great people. Couldn’t ask for more. Highly...
Read moreThis was our favourite place to stay during our travels in Peru, and certainly the best value. The building is lovely with a beautiful scented courtyard garden that rooms look out onto. The rooftop terrace was awesome for breakfast, with fantastic views and the lounge area great for chilling with a book and tea in the evening. The whole place was spotlessly clean and every small thing thought of for guest's comfort and convenience (honesty beer fridge! Kitchen facilities! Tea and coffee! Comfy sofas!) Tina's breakfast was delicious and the perfect fuel for our mountain bike adventures (we did two trips with Julio which were fantastic). The room was also spotless, with a great shower (super hot and high pressure), quiet and with a really comfy bed. The owners also gave us great tips for restaurants and things to do and our whole stay was very relaxing. Also good to note, we were there in the so-called off season, but had blue skies and sun every morning and only a little rain in the afternoons, so definitely consider travelling at this time of year - great availability for...
