My travel buddies and I got to Lima at 5:15. In the AM. Wasn't a long flight, but it was still 6 hours of no sleep on a plane. We got there and didn't see my name on a sign. No reason to panic. Called the hotel, she said 'let me check.' Not 5 minutes later we got a call back with a promise of a ride shortly. She was true to her word - dude with a GIANT sign - with my full name - rolled in and yelled for us. He gathered us up, brought us to Miraflores and the Casa San Martin. When we arrived, the desk told us our room WAS READY. Not 'we will hold your luggage, come back at 3' or 'feel free to wait in the lobby.' I almost cried ugly tears of joy, y'all, because I was beat. How many hotels will you let check in early like that to get a nap? I've had that happen exactly never. Even on top of that, the credit card machine was acting wonky, so he told us to go lay down, rest, and we can worry about it later. A saint, I tell you. We have had a smile and greeting from every worker here. The room is clean and there is plenty of hot water. Housekeeping has kept things fresh and stocked and made sure to ask us of we needed anything. Breakfast order is taken by the cook, who whips your eggs up fresh and delivers them straight away. The bread was divine. Great location and safe as hell. Sturdy locks on the doors. Our triple is the perfect size, and there's plenty of storage space, plus 2 windows to open and air everything out. The location is a dream - we are a quick jaunt from just about everything. Anyone that complains about something stupid like 'the bedspreads should be newer' .... don't even. The customer service alone has this place winning. This won't be my last trip to Peru, and it won't be my last time staying at Casa San...
Read moreThere are lots of places to stay in Lima, especially in Miraflores district. I prefer a nice simple hotel with a local feel and I found it at Casa San Martin. I stayed a total of 5 nights, some with my family, some for work. The service was very good (only a little English was spoken by the staff and I have rudimentary but terrible Spanish and we figured out everything - just those interactions alone were worth the stay!) The breakfasts were delicious and they were very accommodating for an early morning departure one of the days. I've stayed other more fancy places nearby which are fine, for me, Casa San Martin was much more enjoyable. They have a lovely decor, a place to store bags, and did laundry with a very quick turnaround. My only complaint, the wifi was a bit slow and could be improved, that's not essential to me so I'm giving them 5-stars. All in all a great...
Read moreI spent a month and a half this Lima Winter-Spring and this rather unpretentious family-style hotel helped make my time worthwhile. While not out-and-out luxurious (no way you could expect that for the price!), the hostess and receptionists treated me like another member of the family. The bed was comfortable, the room was cleaned daily and the breakfast was fabulous: coffee, fresh OJ, any style of egg I wanted, on many days a fruit salad (if not, a banana), ciabatta, rolls/bread butter and jam. I don't see how you could do better in the nice Miraflores part of Lima...
