AMARCORD Trattoria — Restaurant in Lima Metropolitan Area

First, when entering the restaurant the staff seemed annoyed by our presence. I think we were the first costumers of the night. We got a table in front of the bar, behind it about 4 people from the staff were staring at us and we got a bit uncomfortable. So we changed to the tables outside. It was nice but the traffic noise made it quite stressful. We ordered a burrata, which was ok, it lacked a little of seasoning. The bread sticks that came together were delicious. The pizzas we ordered looked amazing, and the dough really stands out. Very good levained dough. But the toppings didn't work very well. It was too heavy, quite fatty, making the pizza dough soggy with the grease. We ordered a lemonade and it was terrible, tasted like powdered juice. It is definitely one of the better Italian restaurants or trattoria in Lima, food is exceptional like in Italy, like for example their Pizza Quattro Stagione with the pistacchio, the pacchiere genovesi and the cannoli dessert. However, there is a star reduction, since one of their waitress can be rather impatient and confrontational in her opinion, for example on a Friday evening one wants to relax instead of being rushed. So the food is really authentic Italian, but the attention can be a bit non-Italian or lacking warmth/charme. That's why I prefer not to visit the place that often as I perhaps would like to go. Another point for improvement is their limited wine list, they seem to have only one or two types of red wine, which by the way they are used to serve ice and ice cold, instead of 16-18°...

This is a strong 2 star place. The secret to a great pizza is a great dough, and Amarcord doesn't have one. The pizza dough needs A LOT of improvement. The texture is weird, hard to cut and chew. I'll give them points on the presentation as the dishes do look good. The service was super slow, we had to wait 1 hour for 2 pizzas. The waiters are kind and attentive, but the service is just slow. It was a cold night, we were sat next to the door and while one waiter closed the door so we wouldn't be cold while we waited that whole hour, the others would come and open it every 5 minutes to give products to the delivery bikes and would leave it open.
