I love this little hotel. Stayed twice! Peru is my 104th country (business and tourism), so I’d like to think I have a good grasp on scale. This review takes into account this is a ~$22/night hotel.
Pros: Clean, quiet, good location for walkability, solid WiFi, wonderful little breakfast, and incredibly kind and helpful staff. Amazing for the price point. Family-owned and run, so they go above and beyond. They booked tours for me, recommended multiple options for airport shuttle and arranged it, recommended and directed me to photo/copy services for visa applications, directed me to ATMs, copied all my documents, and printed a hefty list of docs required by Bolivian immigration. They even served me breakfast before opening time because one of my tours left early. For $22??? Cmon.
Cons: Other reviews talk about a lukewarm shower (it was fine, not steaming) and different prices for water depending on the attendant (we’re talking a matter of cents).
Language: They have limited English, but even with basic basic Spanish you can communicate. Google translate helps in complex situations. However, they go out if their way to try to...
Read moreWe stayed at Puno Terra for 2 nights as it was included in our tour. We were charged 60 USD per night, but found out that you could find the same room on booking.com for 35 USD. So if we were charged the correct price we'd might have been a bit more positive. ||||Pros: ||- Close to the main square and street||- Reasonably fast wi-fi ||||Cons: ||- Really rundown and would need a total makeover||- The room was really cold when we came (about 12 degrees). The room doesn't have any heating, so we were offered a small, noisy heater that got the room quite warm but produced horrible air. ||- The shower didn't have hot water, only medium. You really need a hot shower after being out in the cold in Puno ||- The staff hardly knows a word english||- The interior of the room is really, really basic||||So if we'd got the room for 30 USD I'd given a 3 star, but considering the price we paid it was a total scam. So we'd...

It's down to earth but has everything that you need. Water is hot, heaters in the room and the sweetest lady who will go above and beyond to ensure your stay is a good one. The host woke up extra early to ensure we have a full breakfast before our scheduled travel. There was limited English proficiency but soo much could be understood and we have the Google translate app which helped with complexity. Felt like a little home away from home with my Abuela looking after me.
Ps: it's less than 5mins walk from...
