Puma Hostel — Hotel in Puno

Cons: there was an awful smell from the drain in bathroom, the whole time! Also the drain of the shower didn't work properly. There were no possibilities to hang towels or clothes. Most of the power outlets were loosely attached to the wall, so often the plug pulled everything off the wall. The wifi was mediocre. Pros: the price was unbeatable. We paid $12 per night in a double room with private bathroom. Included was a very good breakfast (for Peruvian standards), which offered plenty of fresh fruits as well as ham, cheese and jam. Verdict: I was unsure whether to rate 3 or 4 stars. The price was great but the accommodation has plenty of room for enhancements. Rooms are a bit on the small size and not super clean, the old carpet is a bit gross, the rooms could use a facelift, but the price was right and the breakfast included was good, as was the location. Noise travels, and the doors have windows at the top so pretty light at night. The female receptionists & staff were great, very friendly and helpful, we booked our lake titicaca tour through them. Unfortunatley one of my sons had digestive issues our second night, ran out of toilet paper in his room, so went to the recepton at about 0200, it was a male working and he refused to give my son more toilet paper! He was feeling so unwell & had to shower several times after to clean himself, should have got the creeps name. Other than that incident the...
