A Honeymoon Dream, The Most Incredible Stay of Our Lives

We stayed at Kalinaw Resort for our honeymoon and we can honestly say it was the most incredible accommodation we’ve ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, we were completely blown away. The photos online are beautiful but they don’t begin to capture how stunning, peaceful, and truly special this place is in person.

The resort is impeccably designed, minimal, modern, and calming, with no visual clutter. Just warm textures, open space, natural light, and an overall sense of ease and luxury. Everything was spotless and perfectly maintained. The lighting throughout the day was beautiful and every room felt airy and private. It’s like staying in a luxury design magazine only better because you actually get to live in it for a few days.

What really set it apart was the privacy. The resort is tucked away off the main road, surrounded by lush greenery, and it’s incredibly quiet. It felt like our own personal sanctuary. The private beach just steps away was one of our favorite parts, peaceful, uncrowded, and absolutely breathtaking. Most days, we had it entirely to ourselves. The beach is best in the morning during higher tide.

The staff made the experience unforgettable. From the very beginning, they were so welcoming and accommodating. We were welcomed with a tour of the property and our Villa, and even special gifts left in our room that came in handy throughout our entire stay on the island. They helped arrange our airport transfer, set us up with a car rental, and made everything feel effortless. Every interaction felt warm, genuine, and thoughtful. We truly felt like royalty the entire time. One of our favorite details was the in-room tablet. With just a few taps, we could order food, drinks, or anything we needed. The food was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented every single time.

Everything about our stay felt curated and intentional. It felt like the team at Kalinaw had thought through every possible detail to make our time there relaxing and memorable. We soaked up every moment: quiet, sunshiny mornings, listening to the beautiful birds and creatures, swimming in the pool multiple times throughout the day, sunset cocktails, cozy evenings on the patio with the warm island breeze. It was everything we could have hoped for and more.

If you’re thinking about booking, do it. Whether it’s a honeymoon, romantic getaway, or a well-deserved break, this is the place. It is private, peaceful, luxurious, and absolutely unforgettable. We’re already dreaming of coming back. Anyone who doesn't give this place an outstanding review is just an ungrateful or an unpleasant person. The food is an excellent selection, and staff is likely directed not to be overwhelming, invasive or too chatty with guests as it's a sign of respect and courtesy to guests feeling very private and relaxed. This does not mean they are not happy to have you there, all staff, servers, front desk, gardeners, and security were all extremely polite and greeted us and smiled back at every encounter :)

This is an absolutely beautiful little gem. Greeted by the staff to give a welcoming tour of the villa. Firstly, to see a sparkling cool infinity edge pool overlooking the tidal ocean, positioned at the front of the villa. Inside was a gorgeous welcome gift for us. The rooms are large, tastefully decorated & very clean.|A very different set up..presented with an iPad to make orders of food or any other requests. That took a little bit to get used to. Hankering for our first drink after long travel we asked for a bottle of white wine only to be told they had none in supply. A little disappointed. So beer and spirits it was. |There is no restaurant or bar on the premises. Not quite the “5 star luxury resort” we were expecting or used to. However, it soon became apparent that this gorgeous resort was exactly what we needed. Really relaxing. Super comfortable bed and linen. Away from the hustle & bustle of the General Luna town. Yet still close enough to get to. If required to go in town we jumped in a local Tuk tuk 🛺. Quick easy and affordable transportation. ||Nothing seemed too difficult for the staff. The meals we ordered were delicious. The staff were always polite and friendly. They organized a couple of day tours for us which was great supplying cold water and beach towels for the day. Our breakfast was included and we would tell them the day before what time and would set up on our pool deck. More than enough choices and yummy. We also organized daily massages that were also set up on our pool deck. They brought us green tea afterwards. It was our wedding anniversary and they decorated the bed, flowers was so nice. |Another great touch to look after the environment, was to provide us our daily drinking water in large reusable bottles or canisters. Big thumbs up for that. They encourage tipping at the end of the trip as to make sure it’s shared among the entire staff which includes behind the scenes staff so they don’t miss out. We like that. |Kalinaw kindly arranged a later checkout. We appreciated that. Our only real issue was that once we had checked out, we had to wait an hour in the heat with no toilet/washroom facilities, surely I’m not the only one that has needed this before hitting the road to the airport? |Perhaps something for the owners to consider for future customers that have checked out & need to wait for transportation. |Overall we rate this lovely luxury resort highly, awesome staff and would definitely in a heartbeat come back to...

Absolutely made the right decision booking this resort. It has the homey beach vibes that offers comfort for couple like us. The kind of place to relax and rest for a busy person who wants to just commune with nature and connect with various types of people and each other again. The staff are very courteous and friendly and efficient. Melrose, Angelou, Kim, Alodia are very warmth to talk to. All our requests were attended. No complaints and highly recommended, plus that standard of luxury and finish in the villas are top rate with the obvious added benefit of a personal, large pool at the front of each villa. They always made sure we were comfortable and being attended to, but also not at all intrusive. The room is clean and conducive. The area is close the the main town and restaurants and market and great for surfing activities. The thing we loved most about out stay was the easy access to the beaches facing the pacific ocean and the nearby tourist attractions and tours all bookable via the hotel and we found them to be excellent quite the adventure, plus we had great advice from the team when we looked to do our own thing and many of the days including the coconut drive and view and bridge market with its amazing street food and atmosphere. Although the area and resort are still going through a degree of recovery, meaning the restaurant on site and other communal ammenities were off line, this was more than made up for by the personal butler services and the food, drink and service were all excellent. You may also make personal requests and the staff will make it happen. They granted my little father's day surprise for my partner in the day of our check in. I'm so happy for the efforts and thoughts that they put through it. Thank you so much as well to GM Eve who made every food delicious in our entire stay.
