Worst Restaurant Experience Ever
If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands down the most horrific dining experience I’ve ever had. I ordered an açaí bowl after seeing a photo on the menu that showed it topped with strawberries, berries, and kiwi. Sounds delicious, right? WRONG.
After waiting 40 minutes (yes, 40 minutes for a bowl of fruit), what I got was a slap in the face. They brought me a bowl topped with coconut, banana, and mango instead. First of all, I specifically informed them I have a banana allergy. BANANA. ALLERGY. Yet, they put banana all over my bowl and pretended it wasn’t a big deal.
When I asked the waiter where the ingredients I ordered were, he shrugged and told me they were “blended into the açaí.” Seriously?! Am I supposed to believe that they “blended” strawberries, kiwi, and berries into the bowl, but magically forgot the toppings? Turns out, when I pushed further, the kitchen admitted they were out of stock. Then why didn’t you tell me when I ordered it?
The “solution” they offered? Keep the bowl (with my allergen) or have them scrape the bananas off. Are you kidding me? Do they even understand how allergies work? Do they care that cross-contamination can literally send someone to the hospital? Obviously not.
This restaurant clearly has no clue about customer service, food safety, or basic decency. The fact that they thought this was acceptable is beyond belief. If you value your time, your money, or your health, do not step foot in this place.

Read moreOn the last day of our Siargao trip, we decided to try Shaka Siargao after watching the sunrise at Cloud 9. We had read plenty of good reviews, so we thought it would be a nice final stop before flying back home.
Shaka opens at 6:30 AM, and since we arrived early from sunrise watching, the staff were still cleaning. We waited a bit and placed our order as soon as they officially opened. We went for their best-selling smoothie bowl, the Bomb Dia 2.0, which costs ₱330.
The smoothie bowl was served quickly, as we were their first customers for the day. The staff were also friendly and welcoming. I'm a fan of smoothie bowls, and I appreciated the aesthetic presentation — especially the mango carved into a rose. The location also adds to the experience, with a nice view of the ocean and Cloud 9 right from your seat.
In terms of taste, I’d say it was just okay — 3 out of 5 for me. There was a slight unusual flavor, which I suspect came from the coconut bowl. It might’ve been an older one, and the taste seemed to mix into the smoothie. I’m not entirely sure, but overall, there was nothing particularly special about the flavor.
For vegans and health-conscious eaters, this spot is definitely worth checking out. The ambiance is relaxing and cozy, and it’s a peaceful place to unwind — especially if you’re starting your day...

The atmosphere is laid-back, capturing the island vibe with its open-air seating and rustic design. I tried the Bom Dia smoothie bowl, packed with fruits like açai, bananas, and topped with granola—refreshing, filling, and Instagram-worthy! Their coffee is also top-notch, made with love, and pairs perfectly with any of their bowls.
One of the best things about Shaka is that they focus on sustainability, using eco-friendly packaging, which aligns with the eco-conscious vibe of Siargao.
