The entrance fee of php100 is just a scam. Firstly, the beach is ill maintained and overcrowded. Some call it cloud 9, it's more like crowd 9. Honestly, the beach itself is mediocre at best. It's all built up in stories and fictional tales of Siargao (the surfing capital of the Phillipines) as the best beaches. I really did enjoy the water and the pier. However, the locals are rude and uninviting, which makes the experience a 1 / 5. Secondly, the locals heckle you wherever you go to try surfing, which as of 02/01/2025 is php600, and it's annoying. I know this is how the locals make their living, but your money is best spent elsewhere. I would go so far as to call this a tourist trap. Honestly, I would highly recommend that you do NOT contribute to the locals thieving you. I paid for a surf intro lesson, and my instructor told me that the hour was up. When I got back to the shore, I asked my friend who was flying a drone how long it had been. His drone flight time said 26 minutes (and he took off exactly when I started the lesson). I knew it didn't feel like an hour. So I demanded that he must take me back in the water for another 30 minutes at least. Eventually, after some back and forth, he agreed to take me back in the water. However, his attitude and behavior were very rude, and it ruined my experience completely. It's not worth paying your hard earned money on a scam of a surf lesson. Thirdly, my instructor did not give me any tips or help at all. The only thing he said for the whole time was "paddle," and the waves at the time were very small, and I felt that my instructor put subpar effort into making my experience a good one. He made me feel like I was doing him the favor by being there. Total scam, would not do It again at cloud 9 even though I really...

Read moreI finally got to experience what everyone has been raving about—the Cloud Nine sunset. We visited during low tide, as we planned to take pictures of the sunset, and it was truly breathtaking. Although the area was crowded, it was expected, and I didn’t mind at all. The shoreline, dotted with coconut trees, added to the serene and relaxing ambiance of the place.
There is a bar called Loca that serves drinks and conveniently offers cashless transactions. We enjoyed beer and liquor while waiting for the sunset, making the experience even more enjoyable. The area is also popular among foreigners, and there are plenty of surf lessons available for those looking to try their hand at riding the waves. If you look further across the sea, you'll see a lot of people surfing, which adds to the vibrant atmosphere.
The entrance fee to Cloud Nine is 100 pesos, a fee regulated by the local government unit. I was impressed that they issue official receipts, ensuring that payments are properly tracked and managed. It’s great to see local authorities maintaining transparency in managing the site.
One thing to be cautious about, however, is transportation. Some tricycle drivers may overcharge visitors, so if you’re traveling from General Luna to Cloud Nine, the fare should be around 50 pesos as of now. To avoid being overcharged, it’s best to catch a passing tricycle rather than an empty one, as the latter often asks for a higher rate.
Overall, the Cloud Nine experience lived up to its hype, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Siargao. The stunning sunset, lively atmosphere, and great amenities make it a must-visit...
