Nidas Place — Hotel in General Luna

I don't often give bad reviews but hopefully this will save others from the same mistreatment by the owners here. We were a group of 4 girls and booked 2x double rooms which we thought were connected based on the pictures. Spoiler, they weren't and there is no room on the property with a sitting room and common area as shown in their pictures. They are just basic bedrooms with a tiny toilet all disconnected. First off, terrible check in experience; the owner was nowhere to be found when we arrived and made us wait an hour in the heat, then told us first to find her sister (who was also nowhere to be found) before finally telling us to self check in using a key lodged in one of the doors. There was a note addressed to another guest "Mickel" and we said multiple times that this wasn't our booking, but they insisted that was our room. Then when the other guests, the actual Mickel and his partner, did come in the middle of the night, they were furious and wanted us out of the room. It was so stressful, and still there was no-one on the property to sort it out. After an hour of arguing and confusion late into the night, our group feared that we wouldn't have a place to stay and decided to just go to the hostel across the road. Only after this, did the owner start responding to the other guest's messages and sent what I assume were people from their family to open another room, which, once opened, had a cockroach in the bathroom and was a different room to the one we booked. At this point we had had enough and couldn't get anything resolved with Agoda or the owner from our side who was still ignoring our messages so we just left. But here is where the scam comes in - because the owners didn't want to admit their own mistake with Mickel's booking to Agoda, they LIED and said to Agoda that they didn't know anything about Mickel's stay (even though they were messaging him about check-in that very day and had arranged for him to take his room back), Mickel and his partner were able to leave the accommodation the next day, and luckily voided his booking to get a full refund. THEN, the owner used that same LIE they dug themselves in, to further an ADDITIONAL LIE to Agoda claiming that Mickel and his partner were a part of OUR GROUP! That we had booked for 4 people but brought 6 people along and lied about our booking, just so they wouldn't have to refund us anything. THE AUDACITY!!! It took me the full week of arguing back and forth with Agoda, sending them screenshots and giving them the actual truth in detail, did they refund us a portion of the stay. They couldn't process the full refund because the owner went radio silent and refused to put through the refund on their end. There were no apologies or accountability from Nida's Place. Not only that, but even if we had stayed, the rooms are not like the pictures. The property is old, smelled of mildew and mould and had cockroaches. The common kitchen area is outdoor and is largely unusable. The connected rooms with the sitting room and kitchen unit doesn't seem to be rentable at all, and I suspect is actually the main building that the owners use as their family home. So why advertise it? Avoid this place and go to Sinag hostel, we had the best time over there which almost made up for the terrible experience with Nida's Place. Terrible owner and...

Geoff and Nida are great hosts. Rooms are clean, water pressure good and WiFi was good enough for our needs. Lovely grass to relax on, George the dog was a funny old soul. Quiet at night, away from the noise of GL, not too far from the night food stalls at Catangnan Bridge, five minutes walk along the road. AC worked well and had a warm water electric shower if you need it. Outside kitchen for those that can be bothered to cook, with fridge and utensils provided. Plenty of places to eat locally, especially Outer Cafe next door and a great BBQ restaurant a hundred yards away. A short ride from Cloud 9 beach and perfectly positioned for us! We stayed here over a week, had a great time 💯 the place is well organised, and confy. There are 4 cottages all connected with a big green garden in the middle of the location.

There is a shared kitchen with a gas stove, fridge, and all the equipment to make a nice meal 😋 we actually cook so many breakfast or dinner, things that didn't happen often in the last couple of months traveling.
