After writing this review written below, I emailed them stating my problem with their hostel. Apparently, they couldn't give me the refund I needed. Walked out of the hostel after 15minutes checking in and transferred to Bunks 5021 Hostel, right beside it.
"I came here as someone recommended this hostel to me. The minute I walked in, the reception was humid much more so than Manila's humidity. The reception wasn't manned, once the staff (girl, chubby with long hair) came in she was quite rude and nonchalantly answered my queries while talking to her beau on headphones while I am in front of her negotiating the booking. Rude!
I was really tired as I came from an international flight that day and just wanted to rest immediately, forgetting to check the rooms and toilets prior. As soon as I walked in the room, the AC's musty smell (from not having cleaned for a while) was totally apprehensive. The beds weren't even made/prepared and it was past 4PM. The mattress was saggy and looked really dirty, I personally had to ask for the blanket and pillow cover from the reception. There were long term guests in the room, one man kept on initiating a conversation with me when clearly my body language was showing otherwise, two guests were there for a long time with all of their stuff laid out in the room. The room isn't even well-lighted. In the common room they allow people to get drunk in there, probably the first hostel where people can get drunk uncontrollably and I've been to tons of hostels, even the social ones! One guest was looking lewdly at me, making me uncomfortable.
I immediately made the choice to leave even though I have already paid for it. I asked the staff if I could have half of what I paid and told me that she couldn't as it was already entered in the system. She didn't even provide a receipt of our transaction.
Worst place to stay in...
Read moreThis place is a dump! It’s in Makati’s red district which would’ve been fine if the hostel didn’t exactly reflect the dirtiness and sleeziness of its streets. By the end of our 3 night stay, I was convinced that the place was half hostel-half brothel. We saw the same Filipino women hang around these dirty bean bags at the hostel all day long who frequently talked and flirted with the middle-aged fat black and white men that that were there during the evenings. On the weekend we were there, we came back and saw women dressed in bright tight dresses and ridiculously high heels, looking very out of place, talking to these same guys. The common areas were usually frequented by these people so we avoided them but when they were empty, there was garbage and messes left behind. The washroom and showers were also disgusting. Piss-covered toilets, no toilet paper, hair and garbage in the showers. We asked for a double bed but they only had a room with two singles available at the time, the guy at reception just said we should push the two beds together and then only gave us a single sheet and blanket for our two single beds. This was not a very good first impression. Speaking of reception, the people stationed here don’t seem to care who comes and goes which, as a woman, made me feel very unsafe. If you’re desperate to save a buck, the hostel’s few pros include air conditioning in the rooms and purified water available at no extra cost. The location is also optimal but with the Grab ride sharing app so readily available and so incredibly cheap, you can easily stay somewhere much cleaner and just take a Grab in and out of the city centre. If you’re on a super tight budget, stay here. But even while on a tight budget, I strongly feel that things like cleanliness and safety shouldn’t...
