Stayed for 4 nights in one of their solo rooms, and for the price that I paid for it via Agoda (around Php750 a night w/ taxes) I guess its a good enough temporary place to sleep after being out all day. CONS: it occupies the 3F of the building which doesn't have a lift, so it is not accessible to people with disabilities, kids, pregnant people and the elderly. There is barely enough room in the bathroom for me to shower, and the sink drains rather slowly. Bed cushion makes really loud crunching noises whenever I lay on it. Really thin walls, can hear the people next door, on the hall and in the common kitchen beside my room. PROS: walking distance to my office and all the hippest, most happening Poblacion spots. The a/c cools the room really quickly, and each light fixture has its own switch so I can reconfigure the room lighting for different purposes. It shares the building with a really nice (but a bit pricey) restobar at the 2F and a Lotto outlet at the ground floor. There is a convenience store right across, and public transportation is readily available.

Strategically located in the center of Makati's red district. The place is artistically inviting although it's relatively small - almost congested. The place is humid (although some rooms has air-conditioning). Despite of its flaws, Local Hostel is still one of a must-trys in Makati. Cheap hostel rate, good location, accommodating and helpful staffs, tons of solo foreign and local travellers (and hippies) ..... It has its own unique vibes...

If you're on a tight budget, it's ok but don't expect too much. The staff is friendly but when I got there the bed wasn't even ready to be occupied, considering i booked it online at hostel world so they should know i was coming. The only things they will give you is a pillow and a blanket. They don't even give you towels, you need to pay for it. The room was messy and the common room smelled and the kitchen too.

After writing this review written below, I emailed them stating my problem with their hostel. Apparently, they couldn't give me the refund I needed. Walked out of the hostel after 15minutes checking in and transferred to Bunks 5021 Hostel, right beside it.

"I came here as someone recommended this hostel to me. The minute I walked in, the reception was humid much more so than Manila's humidity. The reception wasn't manned, once the staff (girl, chubby with long hair) came in she was quite rude and nonchalantly answered my queries while talking to her beau on headphones while I am in front of her negotiating the booking. Rude!

I was really tired as I came from an international flight that day and just wanted to rest immediately, forgetting to check the rooms and toilets prior. As soon as I walked in the room, the AC's musty smell (from not having cleaned for a while) was totally apprehensive. The beds weren't even made/prepared and it was past 4PM. The mattress was saggy and looked really dirty, I personally had to ask for the blanket and pillow cover from the reception. There were long term guests in the room, one man kept on initiating a conversation with me when clearly my body language was showing otherwise, two guests were there for a long time with all of their stuff laid out in the room. The room isn't even well-lighted. In the common room they allow people to get drunk in there, probably the first hostel where people can get drunk uncontrollably and I've been to tons of hostels, even the social ones! One guest was looking lewdly at me, making me uncomfortable.

I immediately made the choice to leave even though I have already paid for it. I asked the staff if I could have half of what I paid and told me that she couldn't as it was already entered in the system. She didn't even provide a receipt of our transaction.

Worst place to stay in...

This place is a dump! It’s in Makati’s red district which would’ve been fine if the hostel didn’t exactly reflect the dirtiness and sleeziness of its streets. By the end of our 3 night stay, I was convinced that the place was half hostel-half brothel. We saw the same Filipino women hang around these dirty bean bags at the hostel all day long who frequently talked and flirted with the middle-aged fat black and white men that that were there during the evenings. On the weekend we were there, we came back and saw women dressed in bright tight dresses and ridiculously high heels, looking very out of place, talking to these same guys. The common areas were usually frequented by these people so we avoided them but when they were empty, there was garbage and messes left behind. The washroom and showers were also disgusting. Piss-covered toilets, no toilet paper, hair and garbage in the showers. We asked for a double bed but they only had a room with two singles available at the time, the guy at reception just said we should push the two beds together and then only gave us a single sheet and blanket for our two single beds. This was not a very good first impression. Speaking of reception, the people stationed here don’t seem to care who comes and goes which, as a woman, made me feel very unsafe. If you’re desperate to save a buck, the hostel’s few pros include air conditioning in the rooms and purified water available at no extra cost. The location is also optimal but with the Grab ride sharing app so readily available and so incredibly cheap, you can easily stay somewhere much cleaner and just take a Grab in and out of the city centre. If you’re on a super tight budget, stay here. But even while on a tight budget, I strongly feel that things like cleanliness and safety shouldn’t...
