I have stayed in Hopp Inn Makati, Aseana, and Ermita, and Ermita was the worst by far. I think Hop Inn was a better choice than Red Planet, but not in this case. I won't waste too much time on the staff that think I want to wait 10 minutes for a receipt when I am checking in. I don't care if your computer or printer is slow, give the receipt to me later rather than make everyone wait. I think everyone can agree that as a hotel one of the primary goals of a hotel is to ensure the customers sleep well. So, why is there little effort made to reduce noise? I was on the 8th floor.. the sound of traffic is louder than you would expect for the 8th floor, but the bathroom window doesn't close so it makes it much worse. Worse than the traffic noise is the rooster which crows every 5 seconds in the morning for hours, and sounds louder than the traffic. Another loud noise that is common in Hop Inn is the staff walking around with radios on full volume and shouting into them. Communicating about checking rooms for those checking out, and cleaning rooms is important, but it's a hotel- a place customers come mainly to sleep- so having radios on full volume and shouting outside people's rooms is bad. There are many solutions to this problem also, if someone was interested in identifying and addressing problems. I know the staff know about the rooster because there is no way that all the staff and every one staying on that side of the building haven't heard it many times. That problem should have been solved long ago, but I guess the management have not even thought about how to fix the problem, which could easily be arranged either by paying the owners to relocate the rooster, or by having the authorities deal with it. I won't be staying there again.

Sadly, I must leave a negative review before I can even check out. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL IF YOU'RE NOT READY TO BE BOMBARDED BY CONSTANT NOISE. By noise, I mean SERIOUS NOISE—as if you don’t have windows or have them open. I wish I had read the reviews before booking. They assigned me room #525, and I see negative reviews about this room specifically and about noise throughout the hotel. The staff is pretty warm and great overall, but the experience of staying in a bad room undoes all the hard work they put in. I've told the management that room #525 should absolutely not be let out without fixing the noise issues. They've offered me to change the room, but they can't certainly say or guarantee that it will be quieter than this one. I do not want to go through the hassle of packing and unpacking everything to discover that the new room is equally bad. I paid for an upgrade at check-in, and it feels like I paid to experience the "Manila traffic right through your room." Update: Changed (improved rating). They went the extra mile to communicate how sorry they felt about the situation. I had a late flight, so they also let me use the room and stay in it until 8 p.m. without a charge. Additionally, they booked me an airport transfer, which made my travel very comfortable.

Best stay I've had in a long time. To think this is a budget hotel. Check-in was seamless, parking is free. Elevators working fine. I've had quality sleep in the room with its crisp white sheets. On my first day, I had the seaview room and I could see Manila's golden sunset. On the 2nd day, it was a room next to the garden. There's free water by the hallway.. There's soap and shampoo in the bathroom...I brought my own toothbrush and toothpaste. There's TV and a safety deposit box, but no ref. Aircon was quite AF Security is topnotch. I would just like to commend the staff because I left a brand new phone (still in box) in the lobby, and they returned it to me. I only realized it was missing after 9 hours! I loved the coffee in Blocleaf coffeeshop. There's also a 7 eleven in the hotel. The other landmarks in Malate (church, aristocrat etc.) are just a comfortable walk away) I am looking forward to stay here again. Thank you!!!!

Direct quote from web site Malate is a great choice for travelers interested in nightlife, budget-friendly traveling and entertainment.

First I will review the surrounding area

This hotel is located 6 to 8 blocks outside the main Ermita tourist area on a lower section of Del Pilar street inhabited by many homeless people complete with small children with their hand out

You will find them sleeping on the sidewalks in their pedicabs or living underneath plastic sheeting tied between a fence and a tree or lamp post where available across side walk so there is no nightlife in this area except the nightlife of the homeless

As far as entertainment there is a resident young 20 to 30 y/o male off his medication schizophrenic complete with leather football helmet on his head screaming shouting and dancing in the street at all hours of the day and night shirtless and shoe-less

Do not approach give him a wide berth and if you hear Hey Joe shouted from behind you

Do not turn around and pick up your step

Most of the street lighting does not work at night due to burned out bulbs never replaced

The sidewalks are in a complete state of disrepair and badly broken down It is easier to walk in the streets except when it rains and the street floods and now you have to hike thru mud and the busted up concrete sidewalks where available

Taxi service among the homeless is extremely rare therefore Finding a taxi at the hotel may be a problem and there is a high chance you will be walking among the homeless and crumbling infrastructure round trip when ever you want to be out and about

Unless you know how to ride jeepneys in which case you just need to hike out and catch the jeepney back 9 pesos 1 way

Direct quote from web site Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 8.0 for a two-person trip. Yeah right

Does Baby I love you or Your check is in the mail or I won't ring a bell

I'm not going to review the hotel but I was just as disappointed in it as I was the location

If not more so

I am a 20 year expat in the Philippines Take my word for it there are better accommodations in the greater Ermita tourist area

Who for a couple dollars more are a whole lot easier to deal with in a relative safer main tourist area

They also offer a whole lot more amenities like wash clothes bathroom glasses refrigerator room phone (so you don't have to walk down to the front desk whenever you encounter a problem or need something ) hot water thermos

Even the locals occasionally make mistakes

Fool me once shame on you Fool me twice shame on me

For a confirmed honest review of what I have observed and stated

I would also like to request from future reviewers to either confirm or deny my observations of the general run down surroundings of this hotel and the dangers it may impose on first time visitors to Manila

As far as booking dot com you are doing a disservice to your clients even having this hotel in...

This is not my first time to book in a Hop Inn Hotel, but this is the first time that a problem was encountered with my booking. I booked a standard double room with a description of 1 queen bed with SEA VIEW. I chose this room because of the “sea view” over another room a little cheaper but without a window with the view of Mla bay. Upon arrival, hotel staff gave us a room at the 3/f. I immediately checked our window. The view was that of the hotel carpark. So I went back to front desk and asked for a room with a sea view. The staff then informed me that there was an error in the description of the room that I booked. That there is an additional charge for a room with a sea view. So I showed her my reservation and asked that they honor what I reserved, regardless of the description error they were claiming. After consulting with someone from the other room, maybe her supervisor, the staff graciously told me that they will give us a room with a sea view. My husband and I waited for almost an hour, though, for our room to be prepared. But it was ok. In addition, they informed us that we can checkout until 1pm of the following day, free of charge, as their way of making it up for letting us wait for our room. But since we planned on checking out early, I asked for 2 extra pillows instead. Because we saw there was only one pillow each for 2 occupants. And my husband and I sleep with 2 pillows each. The gave us my request. Now, this is customer service. Kudos to the staff of Hop Inn Ermita. They were gracious, accommodating and sensitive to the needs of their clients. What I thought started as a bad check in experience turned out quite well. Thank you so much. The room given to us was at the 4/f with a partial view of the sea. That was ok. And we...
