I was not expecting much from this hotel but the moment I stepped in, I was impressed. Staffs are so nice and accommodating with a smile. The lobby area is grand. The deluxe double room is big and clean, has nice and big sink area and there is a bath tub. The room service always replenishes the bottled water, soap and toilet tissue every time they clean our room. Security guard is helpful and attentive. The only thing I want to suggest is that they provide at least an a la carte breakfast for free. Actually, they do offer breakfast but for a higher price. Location is near Robinsons Place Ermita, two 7-11 convenience stores, walking distance to a good massage place along A. Mabini Street (please see my other review and you can use Google Map to look for it), casino, walking distance to Cowboy Grill Mabini (but really not advisable to walk at night especially if you are alone), and near police station. For the price and everything else. I highly recommend this hotel. I just hope that we'll experience the same when we get back.
Update: Had a great time for our 2nd stay. We stayed in the same room so we felt at home lol. I really love the big lavatory area. Also, I failed to mention that our room has a balcony overlooking A. Mabini Street. Staffs are great as before...welcoming, courteous, and accommodating. Actually, you can access it via Palm Grove Hotel which we did the last time it rained. Just show your key card to the guard. And they close the access door at a certain time during the night. I just wish they can add free breakfast to the accommodation. That would really complete everything. We will stay here again...
Read moreBasic, somewhat dated hotel located in the Malate area of Manila, close to the bayfront. Hotel staff is very friendly. Check-in was easy (with an advance reservation).
Hotel room was dated but adequate. Bathroom was clean and modern. Hot water in the shower was not terribly hot but adequate for a quick washing. Fortunately the body wash and shampoo dispensers in the shower worked fine, however the handsoap dispenser next to the sink fell apart into about six different pieces when I tried to use it. Toothbrushes are provided. Towels are clean and well-used. The door has a bolt lock as well as a chain, and electronic keycards are used instead of traditional physical keys.
Blackout curtains. In-room safe. Two bottled waters for drinking. Hot water pot and mugs but no tea or coffee to put in them so pack your own. Bed was comfortable and the sheet and blanket were adequate. AC cooled the room to an acceptable level pretty quickly. Not much of a view from the fifth floor. Television did not work. Armoire with hangers provided.
Internet was passable but perhaps not stable enough for audio/video streaming. Walking distance to Robinsons Place Mall with a lot of food and shopping options. Other smaller food venues as well as bars within walking distance. Starbucks around the corner and a McDonald's in the other direction. The area is a bit rough after dark as Malate is known as a party location in Manila. Keep your wits about you after dark. Plenty of beggars and drunks folks...
Read moreThe location of Las Palmas is very good. Easy access for transportation and Robinsons Mall is just 5 mins walk. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the room. We were in Room 518. When my son used the toilet, terrible things happened when water leakage comes out from nowhere and the toilet floor got flooded. We were transferred to another room (519) when I entered the toilet, a big cockroach approached me. The aircon was set at 17 degrees but the room temperature was hot. When I opened the wardrobe, there is a small fan which I believed is meant to be used because of the aircon problem. The breakfast is just okay but there is a Mcdonalds nearby so we opted to eat our breakfast on...
