Dwarf Guest House — Hotel in San Juan

We stayed here for 5 days and overall had a pleasant experience. The place was clean, and the mattresses and pillows were incredibly soft and comfortable. They served hearty breakfast meals daily, which included rice meals, fruits like watermelon or banana, and 3-in-1 coffee. Drinking water was also readily available throughout our stay.

The property had a lot of pets—both dogs and cats—but they were all friendly and didn’t bother us at all, which added a cozy, homey vibe.

Our room was equipped with basic amenities: air conditioning, WiFi, a refrigerator, a sink, utensils, and even a cooking stove (though we didn’t get to use it).

That said, there were a few downsides. Since there were five of us, I think it would’ve been more convenient to book separate rooms next time. The room we got had only one bathroom, so we had to wait for each other to finish, which wasn’t ideal. The hot water wasn’t working during our stay, and the water pressure was just average (around 7/10). Unfortunately, the bathroom also had a persistent smell of urine. I tried cleaning it with soap, but the odor lingered—possibly due to the pipes.

On a positive note, the staff were very accommodating and friendly. They offered helpful suggestions on places to visit and gave directions on how to get there. They even helped us book a tuktok for our early ferry ride, which we really...

Dwarf Guest House which is just minutes away from Paliton Beach opened in January 2023 and you can really tell that the owner has put a lot of thought and effort into every detail. The owner is the most welcoming and hospitable host we've experienced in the Philippines! He always made sure we were well taken care of, whether it was providing some cold bottled water when arriving during the hot day or surprising us with some coffee in the morning. He even offered us a free ride to the port because he didn't want us to get drenched in the rain. He was truly an amazing host and made us feel very special. Our hut was in perfect condition with hot showers with high water pressure, well working air conditioning and super comfy beds. Additionally, everything was spotless clean. We really enjoyed our stay in Dwarf guesthouse. The location is very convenient - close to the centre and Paliton beach, on the way to the east side of the island and with great italian restaurant nearby. We were satisfied with the services of bike rental and laundry, finally no yellow stains on the white laundry.

The breakfast was good enough, the rooms are simple but clean and sufficient. The reception was always trying their best to accommodate all our needs.

The owner stopped by to say hello and to check whether everything is ok, they also moved us to a better room the second day.
