Overall it was a nice hostel in terms of facilities and rooms and in a great location, right in heart of the old town, with comfortable rooms (individual curtains and bedside power sockets/reading light is a nice touch, as well as large lockers). However, there were a few issues I unfortunately need to mention, mostly relating to the service/staff - if these things were improved it would be a great hostel: -Unhelpful staff - I experienced a technical issue during booking (the email confirmation had incorrect details). Although I contacted via phone/email immediately, and assured this would be looked into - upon check-in the issue was still not resolved, and they were attempting to make me pay twice more than already I pre-paid, since the "rate had increased" after I booked - meaning it took almost an hour to fix the issue before I could check-in and I also had to move rooms the next morning since I was allocated to the wrong room, which had been already booked for another group. Appreciate sometimes there can be unexpected technical issues but felt it took far longer than it should have taken to resolve and felt trying to double charge me was a bit 'scammy' and could have avoided the need to move rooms. I will say the manager was great in the end and offered an apology with complimentary breakfast at least, but feedback for next time is for the staff to better communicate with each other as seems my issue was forgotten about after a shift change and the person originally I contacted didn't bother to escalate the issue internally. -Unexpected additional charges which are not informed about in advance, e.g. Kitchen usage costs 15 PLN - I have stayed in many hostels and never been asked for additional payment to use the kitchen. Other services such as laundry I can understand extra charge for, and that is mentioned on website, but kitchen usage charge seems very unusual and not mentioned on their website so be aware of this. -There are thieves operating in the hostel, my food was stolen from the fridge even though clearly labelled (appreciate not exactly hostels fault but something to be aware of - I have stayed in many hostels and never had stolen yet, maybe I was just unlucky this time, or maybe there are more untrustworthy people staying here..) -Breakfast offering was adequate but felt price was a bit steep for what was offered (i.e. felt a bit stingy being allowed only 1 hot drink max. and not offering any other drinks such as juice etc.). Also some of the food items did not taste too fresh and may have been sitting there some time. -Cleanliness of WCs/showers could be better. The bins were overflowing and not emptied once in my stay. Sinks/toilets were left in a dirty state. -There was not much in terms of social events, other hostels I have seen host evening social events or even...
Read moreI cannot believe that I have just been called a Liar by the receptionist. I went to check out at 11:10 AM with all my luggage ready with me, and when I was down I told her very politely, I am sorry I forgot my laptop, I went up to collect it, and very unfortunately I got an emergency business call. And as my work is connected with the medical field I had to take it right away. Again that was not my plan at all, but this happens. After 15 mins on the call, the receptionist rushed to the door opened it and saw me I am doing a business call from my laptop. While I was talking on the call she right away as she opened the door told me you are a liar, you lied to me. Me completely schocked because the people on the business call heard what she said, I couldnt believe it, just imagine the shame of calling me a Liar in front of clients and other colleagues. I told them sorry I have to hang up, and extremely politely I told her, sorry are you calling me a liar? She told me yes you told me you came to take something and you stayed 15 mins, i told her i am so sorry i had an unfortunate emergency call i had to take and you see my luggage and everything is ready i was going down i wasnt on the bed i was next to the door. She told me yes you are a liar. This is how you train your employees, and this is how they communicate with people who come to you. Not Safestay at all, i was so shocked I gave her the card and went straight out of the hotel. I cant believe someone called me liar like that in front of my colleagues and customers. You should be ashamed of yourself. The worst experience ever. Always be polite no matter what especially if there is an emergency that happened. Very very very bad and not recommended...
Read moreLITERALLY THE BEST HOSTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN MY LIFE! NO JOKE!
I have lived in 9 different countries and have visited more than 30! I have stayed in Air Bnb’s, 5 star hotels, hostels, couches, etc. The Safestay Warsaw is a benchmark example of what the hospitality industry should strive for. Every institution that is serious about customer service should use this place as a case study for excellence personified. I don’t know of ANY place in the world where you can get this level of service for this price! THIS PLACE IS A DIAMOND!
Solid leadership, management, and staff: Friendly, well-trained and competent. I was always served with a smile! Aga, Matheus, Thomas, Olivia, Agatha… i could go on and on about every single member of their staff. They have an internal work culture of family! Their work under the pressure of immigration crisis brought on by the war left me speechless! They handled everything like true pros combining top-notch professionalism with empathy and compassion!
Clean! Well-kept: Their cleaning crew is on point! The entire hostel although fully booked was ALWAYS SPOTLESS! Bathrooms were always clean with hot water never running out. Rooms were cleaned out regularly.
Always improving and open to feedback: the staff was responsive and quick to make adaptations to accommodate new needs and ideas.
Kitchen and Work area are clean and fully functional: Wifi was super fast! The bar serves great food! Kitchen has everything you need to make food!
This place has special and symbolic meaning to me now. This is more than a hostel, it’s a family and an institution.
If you are in Warsaw and you are looking for the best place to stay, then look no further than the...
