Summary: Rancid chocolates served not helpful service
Our visit was super disappointing. We ordered some coffee with pralines from their selection. The coffee and chocolates arrived quite quickly, however, the two pralines on the right side (nougat) were not fresh.
We've been to a different Wedel shop before so straight away could see visually them not looking right. Then my wife smelled them and could smell rancid odour.
For those know need it. Rancid: having a rank, unpleasant, stale smell or taste, as through decomposition, especially of fats or oils
I complained to the waitress who assured me that they are fresh, but took them away and promised to exchange them.
Then what seemed like a manager brought the plate back with exactly the same chocolates and said they're fresh even though we could see otherwise. He did say we do not have to pay for them. Unfortunately, we still did not have chocolates we could eat that we originally ordered. Super disappointing.

Read moreGreat hot chocolate, terrible service. When I arrived in the outdoor sitting area, I didn't see a server, so I just went downstairs and there learned that they serve you at the table. All is fine so far. After I seated myself, however, it took them AGES to 1. give me the menu and 2. to take my order, although there was only another occupied table besides mine. Yet, this is still not unacceptably bad. I drank the hot chocolate and when I wanted to pay and leave, there was no one around to bring the bill. No server, nothing. And when I DID see a server sitting on a chair inside, she did her absolute best to avoid my gazes and the customers in general. In the end, although I was clearly in a hurry, it took me 15 minutes to finally find a server who would be so kind as to bring me a stupid bill. I'm glad I didn't like the hot chocolate so much so to order a second time. Otherwise, I would have spent my whole...
Read more5 stars for tasty historical food, but 1 star for service which has brought down the overall experience. This is the second time I've been to this chocolate cafe and experienced really ignorant and rude customer service. I'm not sure whether the staff aren't getting paid enough, they hate their job, or they're understaffed (or a combination of all three), but the experience remains: slow and rude service. Today I ordered two chocolate cakes just for the servant to bring one saying "oh, I heard one not two", making me look like I had to apologise, although I was very friendly when ordering. No apology whatsoever. Just rolled her eyes, turned around and went off to bring the second slice. Waiting to be served in first place takes a really long time. I had to fetch the menu by myself. Wedel really needs to work on their staff training. Being welcoming...
