Maraveiro House — Hotel in Aveiro

Staying here as I write this review. A wonderful place to stay right in the heart of the action and alongside the canal. We have the double room option. One thing to remember, the second bedroom does not have a door so for long stays this may be an issue. The girl that checked us in was very nice and gave us loads of tips on what to do during our stay. There is a lovely Italian restaurant on the ground floor of the building and a pizza pizza place next door. There a list of eateries and bars within a 15 minute walk and most within 5 minutes. As others pointed out, this is NOT a 2-bedroom place, but instead has 2 beds in the hallway, and 1 bedroom. That made it a very different experience for us, staying with 2 small kids, because we basically had to whisper all evening.

The kitchen is seriously lacking basics like even a chefs knife.

They have a sign up about "Leaving towels on the floor for replacement" but they don't actually do any service during a 3-night stay. We asked for more toilet paper and garbage disposal, and they fixed that, but didn't bother cleaning or restocking...

Located next to the Grand Canal, the best restaurants in town, and across from Aveiro's historical district, make this an ideal home base. The hosts are very responsive, referred us to the best local businesses, and they made our visit to Aveiro...
