Countinue from the last post Then We all went down for breakfast and while we were eating, our room had gotten cleaned. So when we finished, we came into a clean room to start getting ready to go out and when we came back from outside, we decided to rest a little bit before going back out since we thought that it was kind of hot and not the right time. So after about 2 hours we all got up and got ready. As we were opening the wallet to take out some cash, there was none of the money in there. We checked all the bags and everything we had and the money still wasn’t there. By that time we started to realize that we hadn’t lost the money and somebody from either of these hotels had stolen it. We decided to let this hotel know first and went downstairs and talked to one of the staff. She said that this has never happened while she was working here so she then said that she will contact the manager and let us know what she says. The manager wasn’t in the hotel that day and would come in tomorrow. The employee then recommended that we have extra security by switching out the keys and getting new ones. We agreed and she then gave us new ones. When we got back up to our floor, my daughter accidentally opened the hotel door with the old key. But it worked. So then we went back down and told her about it so she then gave us 2 more new ones. Then again, we tried the new and old keys and they all worked. So she gave it to us one more time and it gave us the same result. So we gave up and she went to contact her manager. She told us that she would call us through the phone in the hotel room and in a couple of minutes she did. We went downstairs to talk to her and she said that they cannot check any cameras or how many times the key has been used to get into the room until the police ask for it so the best thing to do was to file a report to the police. And that's exactly what we did. The police then said that they would contact the hotel to check everything but there were no cameras in the hall just downstairs. There also wasn't any safety locks in every hotel room according to the hotel management. Then, this morning, we went to talk to the manager and she told us that she had to wait for the police to come and request to take a look at the cameras, but they can only see the lobby cameras because there weren’t any in the hallways. Which is extremely unsafe because there could be a lot of things that can happen in the hallways and cameras are very necessary. The manager also said that she had to wait for the police to also request the list of how many times the card has been used to enter the room and the police had never showed up that day. We then contacted the Lisbon hotel manager and we were told that the would do an investigation. After two days we contacted her again and she said that she didn’t find anything on the cameras, just the employee going in and out of the storage room so there was nothing she could do about that. There were also no cameras in the storage room. We also contacted the corporate office for Holiday Inn’s and we were told that they would do a 48 hour investigation. We highly recommend that you or your family don’t stay at this place or in the Holiday Inn branch and if you do please be careful with your belongings. The street is much safer than the actual hotel. We will never stay again at any of the Holiday Inn hotels and we are so disappointed with their security system. This is a lot of money for us to loose and caused a lot of damage. We also feel that they didn’t do enough to help us and it is our fault for trusting the hotel. Thank you for taking the time to read this and we hope that our experience will impact you on your decision of...
Read moreBooked 6 nights with 98k points, got upgraded from a standard to a king premium room on the 8th floor. Perfect for a family of four. ||Used my Diamond Elite breakfast benefit and got free breakfast for my wife and two children. With breakfast at €17 per adult per night, it was an additional €204 saving. Not bad!||The hotel and room were a bit outdated. Which was also noticeable by the air quality on the room. Windows could open completely, which is something I like to get fresh air in. The shower was in the bath, its design was not great as taking a shower meant that the bathroom got flooded every time you did so (there were two drains, that really came in handy for that purpose). The bathroom also got so damp that the toilet paper pretty much got disintegrated after taking a shower. First world problems, I know. But still. ||Location wise it’s further away from the historic centre, which has some benefits. Guest were mainly coming EU countries, and no cruise tourists. Which provided for an overall better guest and breakfast service. When I’m in Lisbon for business, I like to stay on the Convent Square Hotel. But with young children coming along for a family holiday, I prefer Holiday Inn due to the possibility of booking a room where we can all stay on together as a family. Convent Square also did not show up when looking for reward nights. ||There is a rooftop bar with pool, but that opens in spring. Guests not staying in the hotel can use that for an entrance fee, which is something I do not like. |Plenty of bus and metro stops nearby, ensuring you can get at most places of interest in about 30 minutes. Quickler with Uber or Bolt. There’s a supermarket and kids playground around the corner. Transfer to the airport took less than 20 minutes. ||Last but not least: breakfast was really good, with a lot of good food options (and a pancake machine, that my children fell on love with. |All staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all good stay. Would book again when coming to Lisbon...
Read moreThe breakfast was ok.
Staff appeared to be uninterested in guests. Ordered 2 cocktails at the bar the barman made one then wondered of for 15min. Then came back and said he had to do some cleaning, then served another guest their drinks who had been there less time than me before finally making mine. On a separate occasion I ordered a coffee and he never bothered making it. We booked half board but the selection for a vegetarian was tortellini, the plates were cold and food wasn’t much warmer. The food was the same every night. We asked the receptionist to cancel our half board on the 2nd night but she said she couldn’t. So we ate elsewhere so basically ended up paying for meals we never ate. I had to ask for tea and coffee in room, but wasn’t given any milk. The cleaner didn’t replace used cups in room, having stayed at many hotels I’ve never known this poor service. The pool was also very sad looking. The water was cloudy looking with a slight green tinge. There was very few sun loungers and the pool itself was tiny- I’ve had bigger ones in my back garden at home. The bar next to the pool was always shut and you had to go to the lobby bar to get drinks. The gym always appeared to be shut which was very frustrating. I assume it was down to covid but it said it was open on their website which made it very annoying as I made sure the hotel I was staying at had a gym when booking. The hotel room is very dated. There was thick dust all around the hotel room which made you question what the cleaners were actually doing as the only thing that was done everyday was the beds being made. The window in the hotel room was always locked so we couldn’t get any fresh air into the room as well. How this hotel is 4* is beyond me. There are far better hotels in better areas for the same price so go else and have a better holiday than us. Don’t waste your money here, it’ll just ruin your holiday and make you never want to return to...
