Lisbon Lodge — Hotel in Lisbon

The host sold us a suite, with two rooms each with double beds, for our daughter to sleep in her own. Upon arrival the host informed us that we had to pay another €75 to unlock the second room. We had no option but to pay. The room was clean but very basic, completely different than the room we saw on the reservation. No proper seating nor proper table. TV in the room had no channels, and no internet. Although recently refurbished, the property has major flaws: There was a 1cm gap between the door and the door frame, so anyone in the common hall could peek inside our room - directly into our bed.... We notified the host, they couldn't care less about this utter lack of privacy. The worst was the dreadful noise that the electric locks are making the whole night, exactly the horrible noise you hear in the movies with the metal jail doors. The main access door into the property lobby and then the apartment door are both fitted with a automated PIN code locks. MOST OF THE TIME these don't work. So the guests arriving home in the evening try and try and try to open, unsuccessfully, until they star banging at the door for some other guests to let them in. We got stuck outside a few times, called told the hosts, so they changed our PIN code a few times, each time it was hopeless. The host insisted that it worked and we just didn't know how to use it. Yet, their own staff, the caretaker, got stuck and banged the door until we unlocked it from inside. Poor experience. for our troubles with the TV channels, the host agreed to refund €40.... We never...

Just love my stay! The room and apartment was exactly as advertised! Everything was spotless clean and stylish. The bed was incredibly comfy. I believe one of the comfiest I have ever slept! I was able to check-in early after a long flight from Brazil, so points for that. The bathroom shower was very strong and easy to set. There are 2 shared bathrooms for 4 rooms, so it’s never crowded or dirty. The kitchen was well equipped and there was also seasonings available. TV in the room with many channels. Even though it’s not the closest to downtown, I walked to and back to the apartment everyday. Has laundries, restaurants and markets in the area. I felt safe in the surroundings, even with a few people living in a street nearby. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this for anyone...

So yeah... This place... We waited and waited and waited (and waited) for them to open the door, because there was some kind of numpad that didn't work. We wrote them via booking, via mail, we called (and bear in mind we are not from Portugal). We tried everything to reach them and tell them out problem to no avail. So we had to cancel our reservation with them, losing money of course, because the refund policy only made it so we got half of what was paid. All in all, we were stranded on a foreign city, trying to get to our accomodations, asking the owners for help due to the technical issues of the numpad, only to be ignored. And on top of that, we lost money, they earned money and we had to look for somewhere else to stay. Avoid this place at all cost...
