On April 28th, during the nationwide power outage in Portugal, my partner and I found ourselves stranded and desperately searching for a hotel room. After a long, exhausting journey from the airport involving both a difficult taxi ride and a lot of walking, we finally made it near the city center. I walked around the block, knocking on doors and asking at various hotels—only to be turned away repeatedly. Most places were demanding cash upfront due to the blackout, but we had no cash on hand since we were scheduled to fly out that day.
Eventually, I arrived at Luzeiros Suites, unsure what to expect. There was a line of people outside, and I feared they might be full or also require cash. But this is where everything changed. I met Paula at the front desk, and when I explained our situation, she didn’t hesitate—she told me I could pay once the power was restored and immediately arranged a room for us. Her compassion and quick thinking were a lifeline.
Even more impressive was how Paula and her team—Daiva, Antonio, and Duarte—handled the chaos. Despite the challenging circumstances, they remained calm, professional, and kind, ensuring every guest in line was helped with patience and care. It was clearly not an easy day for them, but their dedication never wavered.
The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making our unexpected stay a restful one. The hotel is also in a great location—close to the city center, with easy access to public transport including buses, subways, and Uber.
I am deeply grateful to Paula and the entire team. Their kindness turned a stressful situation into a moment of genuine human connection. I even asked the hotel’s owner to recognize their extraordinary effort that day—perhaps with a bonus or some other well-deserved gesture of appreciation.
We will absolutely stay here again when we return to Lisbon, and I wholeheartedly recommend Luzeiros Suites to anyone...

You will hear the subway while in your room. It sounds like a far away plane taking off. There is a small supermarket that's 1 min walk. When you exit the hotel, turn left and it's right there. So many restaurants and shops around and it's a great area to explore. If you have a car, parking will be across the street in the red building opposite to the hotel. In the building, there are 3 levels of parking, a small mall and some restaurants. It's a tourist spot. Parking will be €15 per day plus €30 cash refundable deposit. The staff is extremely kind. I got in early due to the time of my flight and I was able to check in early. The rooms are not as nice as the pictures on the website, but it's comfortable. We did not spend much time in the room as it did its job. There is the Luzeiros Suites cafe beside the hotel where are can get breakfast, which is not included and I believe it's opened also to the public. To save money, we just walked to the grocery store that's steps away and picked up a few items. They have a bakery section that's great for breakfast. There is one elevator at this hotel and a small sitting area outside the elevator. Housekeeping comes around pretty early in the morning, so if you don't want your room cleaned, put the do not disturb sign the night before. And they turn off or lower the lights in the hallway at nights. However, if you're room is in the corner, a light automatically turns on when you approach your room. I stayed here for 9 days and it was a good experience. The only negative is the rooms needs a little bit of an update. If you're looking for a great restaurant, check out Fogo. It's 4 mins walk from hotel. They...
Read more· The location was very convenient as the hotel was 10 feet from one of the Campo Penqueno Metro subway entrances. Travel to/from the airport and downtown is very easy. Furthermore, one of the local train stations that go to Sintra is only about 1000 feet away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. His suggestions on getting to places etc was very helpful. Our room was one of the budget rooms on the second floor. It faced away from the street so was pretty quiet when the windows were closed. We opted not to purchase the 15 Euro breakfast. There are several grocery stores and pastry shops nearby to get something quick when you are on the run trying to get to Sintra before the crowds do. The staff arranged our ride (not a taxi nor uber, probably someone they have an existing arrangement) back to the airport as the subway stops running at 1 PM. The driver was nice and courteous. Cost was only 15 Euro for the car so reasonable. They provided a coffee machine with 4x free pods so you could make coffee anytime you wanted.
Disliked · This is an older building and it shows its age. I am sure at one time it was the pride of the city but those days are long behind it. Our shower had many spots of mildew in the grout between the tiles as well as on the wall above the tile. Some of the tiles were loose on the floor. And finally our bathroom trash can was not emptied prior to our arrival. We notified the staff and they removed the trash shortly afterwards. The floors had some bits especially under the beds which goes to tell you the cleaning staff only concentrates on the spots you typically see and the room doesn't get a thorough cleaning...
