Stayed here for three nights recently , on a b and b basis , as part of a tour group .. In my opinion this is not a 5* hotel , at least not by UK standards. They may seem like minor issues but they did detract from our impression .||The positives. |Convenient area near Edward V11 park , good restaurants and the 'posh' shopping street .|Public areas and room were stylish, pleasant and well maintained. Big bed and very nice bed linen. |But| – no reading lights by the bed |-tacky shower curtain, which I did not tuck in properly (my fault) and consequently flooded the bathroom floor when I took a shower. Had to use two bath towels to mop up (the shower was powerful). And I noticed the cleaning staff did not tuck the curtain into the bath either - it might have alerted me.||2 ppl on duty to check- in 49. And worse, only one (very pleasant) poor young woman on duty when we checked out. Several people queried charges. |Only one of two (tiny) lifts working – for 49 tired , and mostly older, people , to get to their rooms with luggage. Some of which were on the 5th (?)floor. No offer of porterage. We staggered up three floors eventually, realising we could wait an hour or more. |1 room key for two ppl. Inconvenient when you need it to operate lift and lights (they did give me a second when my husband stayed behind one day as he was unwell. Then his stopped working …)|No information about the hotel in the room, Including the wi -fi code .|No safety /evacuation instruction or plan.| Drinks - you get 6 tea bags only for a three -night stay for two , (Nespresso) coffee was charged for after the first drink. I find this unbelievably penny -pinching. Especially as the price- list for items on the tray appeared only in the evening of our second day. Even budget hotels in the UK provide free tea and coffee. And by convention, anything on the tray is for consumption. (Obviously not items in the fridge /mini bar). There wasn’t even a teaspoon. |Tea/coffee machine at breakfast. A buffet breakfast is fine, but I would expect tea /coffee brought to the table in this level of hotel .|No one appeared to be monitoring or in any hurry to top- up supplies at breakfast. Items I had enjoyed the first morning didn’t feature on Day 2 -perhaps because we came down later.? And would it be too much to put a second jug of milk near the tea /coffee machine instead of just one near the cereal?|We had a perfectly nice meal in the restaurant the first evening, but the staff were not...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible sham of a hotel. Stayed in late August with my family. The room was moderately clean but there were parts of the room that were falling apart, such as one of the sockets, the third bed in the room etc. The TV was old fashioned and had a sticky remote. No fun there.
The gym is tiny, had old equipment and is just generally looked unloved.
The breakfast was okay. On the first day, we were immediately led to the secondary room which we quickly learnt, was secondary both in option and in quality. It was only after insisting from the second day onwards, that we were led to to the primary room which had ample space for the five of us every time. Both rooms should have been equal in quality of offerings, and this was not the case. The breakfast was samey and we quickly got bored of it. Some of the food labels were missing - allergic reaction waiting to happen. The waiting staff was amazing as was the gentleman at the breakfast reception.
There is no pool at the hotel - please note this in case this is a dealbreaker for you.
The location was good.
Now, here is where I'd advise you all to be very careful, because it seems that this hotel is a fan of providing incorrect and incomplete information and charging for it. My father put his card down (for incidentals) and the hotel used this to their advantage, to charge him for something that none of us had any idea he would be charged for. We booked a tour with this hotel, and my father paid for this - he was told that it cost 45 Euros. At no point was he told that he would incur any further costs. The tour guide was good but now looking back, I wonder. The tour lasted for about 4 hours in total. When we got back to the UK, my father checked his account and saw that he had been charged a further 100 and something Euros. Upon relaying this to the hotel, nothing was done and no accountability was taken,. It was never explained that we would be charged for more hours (on top of the one hour that the tour was apparently supposed to last for - my father was never told this).
Real Palacio, I am disgusted at your lack of accountability, professionalism and care. I feel you took advantage of the fact that we were not naive to Lisbon and your goal and aim was to deceive and steal. I will ensure that everyone I speak to knows that your business is a sham, and will encourage everyone to boycott it. You should be ashamed...
Read moreA super OK hotel, but not 5 stars. The hotel is very well-connected with a direct line to the airport, as well as into the city centre. The Metro station is only a short walk away. The spa was very quiet and always had fresh towels for us. Although the 9 o’clock closing time is a bit early. The steam room and the sauna worked great and we went there every night of our stay. There is a giant shopping mall nearby with a massive department store stretching over seven floors which will have everything that you could possibly need. There is a nice park which is very relaxing on evenings and obviously a lot of locals go there. There was an on-site restaurant and sports bar, and although we didn’t use them, they looked pretty good. I like the checkout time is 12 pm as a lot of hotels are bringing this time earlier and earlier you have to rush to get out in the morning. Breakfast had every option imaginable but hot food was not great. However, they were all kinds of bread and pastries and cold meats and even salmon. Only one coffee machine made good coffee while the coffee from the other was terrible. Do not use the coffee machine by the door. You will regret it. I was shocked to find that you had to pay extra for the coffee in the room. It’s not even reasonable, the price is exorbitant. For example, you need to pay for the coffee and the cream separately. This made the hotel feel like a budget hotel instead of a five star hotel. I could go to a café around the corner and get a cappuccino and a pastel de nata for less than the price of the coffee in the room. The mini fridge in the room was convenient for storing my own bears, but you have to ignore the expensive stuff in there that they provide for you. It’s all vastly overpriced. Temperature control did not work the first night. It was fixed the next two nights, but then broke again on the last night. It seemed as if it was stuck on the hottest setting, and we had to open the balcony door in the middle of the night in order not to boil. Rooms small The room itself was clean and well decorated but it was too small. There was also a lack of power sockets with none available next to the bed for charging a phone overnight. Also, the sockets turned off when you left the room so you couldn’t leave anything charging while you had breakfast for example. Overall, I would say this is a very average hotel in a...
