Sigh ... Where to begin? PROS: the staff were outstanding, all of them, without exception. From Sandro and Bruna at Reception to the wonderful Cozinha ladies, the customer service was top notch and could not be faulted. A real credit to the hotel. The location is in a quiet, pretty part of town with easy access to the Metro. El Corte Ingles is round the corner, as is the Jardim Botanico. CONS: the hotel is extremely dated. While it is clean, it is in desperate need of a refurbishment. It most definitely is not the 4 star quality it was advertised to be. The spa, pool and gym facilities I was expecting are in fact located at a nearby sister hotel, and charges apply. (Admittedly, this was my misunderstanding.) The buffet breakfast wl0as probably the worst I have ever had anywhere (and I travel extensively worldwide). Room service food quality was sub par. I was booked here for 3 nights, but after the first night I checked myself into the Lisbon Marriott which deserves every single one of its 4 stars.
With some basic repairs and refurbishment, this hotel could be outstanding. (They're halfway there with the great quality of staff they are lucky to...

The location is close (5 mins walk) to the metro, which is cheap and handy to get round Lisbon and the last stop on the direct line from the airport. Would recommend to get a payg card from the airport (we bought 10 euro one and it lasted 4 days with heavy usage)
The lobby is well decorated and staff were helpful and friendly, general level of cleanliness and decoration was good.
When talking about the room, though the decor is dated furniture and furnishings looked like they have not been changed since the hotel was opened in 1994 especially the hairdryer and tv. The beds are very hard and lumpy. That being said the bathroom is generally in a reasonable condition but not to a 4* standard.
There were no tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries comprised of two pump soap dispensers mounted...
Read moreThis hotel has friendly staff and has great nearby Metro (10 minutes to the city centre) and bus stops. There's also a huge El Corte Ingles (a bit like a Harrods) near the metro station (Sao Sebastiao). It's also located very close to the Gulbenkian Museum and the Parque Eduardo VII and if you fancied walking , it's an almost straight path from there down to the Praca do Comercio and the River Tagus. It's also just far enough away from the city centre to be keenly priced. Rooms are spacious and although just a bit dated, the fabric is well maintained and very clean. I didn't dine or have breakfast there, so I can't comment on the food, but I did have probably the best Gin and Tonic in the hotel bar that I've ever had anywhere in all the times I've...
