Tucked away in the lively streets of Lisbon, Gurkha is a restaurant that promises a delightful culinary experience with a casual twist. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gurkha, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The food was amazing, the service was top-notch, and the prices were incredibly reasonable.

When it comes to flavor, Gurkha hits all the right notes. The menu offers a fantastic array of Nepalese and Indian dishes that are bursting with authentic, mouthwatering flavors. From the first bite to the last, each dish is a tantalizing journey of spices and fresh ingredients that will leave you craving for more. The Chicken Tikka Masala, in particular, was a standout, with tender chicken cooked to perfection in a rich tomato-based sauce that had just the right amount of heat and balance.

What sets Gurkha apart is the laid-back and friendly atmosphere. The staff members are welcoming, approachable, and always ready to assist you with any queries or recommendations. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Nepalese and Indian cuisine or a newcomer looking to explore new flavors, the staff at Gurkha will make you feel right at home and guide you through the menu with their expertise.

One of the most pleasant surprises at Gurkha was the affordability of the dining experience. Despite the incredible quality of the food and the attentive service, the prices are incredibly reasonable. Gurkha offers great value for money, making it an ideal spot for casual get-togethers with friends or even a quick solo meal that won't break the bank.

The ambiance of Gurkha is cozy and relaxed, providing the perfect setting for a laid-back dining experience. The interior decor is simple yet inviting, creating an atmosphere that encourages you to unwind, enjoy good food, and engage in lively conversations. Whether you're catching up with friends, having a casual date night, or simply want to satisfy your cravings, Gurkha offers a comfortable and unpretentious dining space.

In conclusion, Gurkha is a hidden gem in Lisbon, offering a casual and delightful dining experience that will leave you craving for more. With its fantastic food, friendly service, and wallet-friendly prices, Gurkha is a must-visit restaurant for those seeking a relaxed culinary adventure. So, grab your friends, head to Gurkha, and get ready to indulge in the amazing flavors and warm hospitality that this gem of a restaurant...

This place definitely deserves its popularity. Its vibe is super cute, especially with how it’s decorated for the holidays. I got my food extremely quickly, even though it looked like only two people were working.

The garlic + cheese naan was the big standout to me. It was fluffy and soft. The garlic really came through in a way that it doesn’t for a lot of other, inferior garlic breads. No matter what else you get here, I’d highly recommend it.

I have two major complaints and one minor complaint that kept it from 5 stars for me, and they all revolve around the Chicken Jalfrezi. Let’s start with the positives: it was very flavorful and balanced. However, there was one main flavor that was missing - spice. This chicken is in the spicy chicken section of the menu, and yet, I got absolutely no spice coming through the dish. That left the dish feeling lackluster as the other flavors weren’t strong enough to carry the dish on its own. In addition, the chicken was slightly dry, impacting the texture of the dish as well. My last little nitpick is just about the service. I’m a big fan of using my naan to wipe the remnants of the sauce after I finish my chicken, but the plate was taken extremely quickly without asking if I was done with the dish. This wouldn’t prevent me from giving a 5 stars review in and of itself, but just a small nitpick with the service.

Overall though, the food was great, and I would definitely come back to try a...

Lovely Indian restaurant, they speak both Portuguese and English, also take card payments which is not always the case in Lisbon. The food was delicious, but I definitely recommend their naan bread. Lots of Indian restaurant here don't serve them here. Plenty of choice with different levels of spice, so definitely something for everyone. Many restaurants have reduced their menu because of Covid, in fact this was the reason we changed our reservation at the last minute, but not here, full menu is still available. My husband had a lovely lamb dish which was good quality meat and cooked till beautifully tender. I had prawns which I love, but too many restaurants over cook them and they turn out tough. Definitely not the case here they were cooked just right. We had an early booking as we live outside of Lisbon so were the first people there, but it soon filled up. I would suggest booking if you have to travel any distance. They were also busy with take away orders, but they were serving the restaurant customers first so no need to worry about that. Nice little restaurant with sensible food and drink prices, doing well in these difficult Covid times. We will...

I loved it! To start, I’ve ordered the Chicken Momo. I have never eaten dumplings in an Indian restaurant. Dough filled up with minced meat and a lot of different spices. This combination matches perfectly. Exceptional! For the main dish, I‘ve chosen the Chicken Chili. This dish had the right balance between a great acidity, sweetness and spiciness. The chicken was very tender and the vegetables (paprika, onion,…) were fully covered with this rich and perfectly seasoned sauce. Wonderful! For the side, I have ordered some plain rice and naan bread. The perfect side to go with the Chicken Chili. To drink, I would recommend the Mango Lassi. This is the right drink to cool down from this spicy, well seasoned food. All in all. Amazing. If you want to experience good Indian food, I would definitely recommend this place. 12.08.2024 D.

The garbanzo bean curry was really good, but I found it boring as it was a single dish with no garnish and no small complements at all, so I put the salad that came with the kids' menu, Naan and rice on my plate. The chicken on the kids' menu was sprinkled with chili peppers and my child stopped eating after one bite. I told this to the female waitress, who went to the kitchen to check and came back and told me, "It seems the person who cooked it did not change the spoon from the dish before it, so it got mixed up." And then she left. They did not bring a new dish. So i had to remove the red chili from the food. I will never go back to this restaurant again.
