Open Door Loft — Hotel in Ponta Delgada

My first time visiting São Miguel couldn’t be better! I feel at home here thanks to the amazing incredible folks at Open Door Loft. They were beyond professional, attentive and kind. Mr Markos is the best ever, and even provided a personalized tour of the island. We saw so many places that would have never discovered on our own, places that are not very touristy, that only a local would know of. He is very personable and very great conversation. I already feel like everyone here is like family.

The only downside is that we have to return to Canada tomorrow; which breaks my heart. I haven’t even left yet and I already cannot wait to come back. If you’re looking for a place to stay during your trip or someone to give you a tour I can’t recommend enough. You will feel right at home here and your trip will be even better than you could have possibly imagined! The memories we made here will last a lifetime! So do yourself a favour and stop scrolling and book right now! You will be so glad you did!!!! A million and a half stars...

The room was dirty at our arrivale, both on the floor and on the bed sheets, full of hair and stains everywhere. You can hear everything from the other rooms since there are communicating doors. We had to discuss with other neighbours because we couldn’t sleep. I asked for a partial refund given our bad experience and the owner blocked me on whatsapp. Terrible experience! Don’t go

they say they inspected the room and mine are lies but I have messages that prove that they never came to check at night. Also they apologise many times because they knew the room was dirty. I never assaulted the other guests, I also have a recording of the high volume of the neighbours’ TV. The manager was aware and shocked as we were at the moment. Stayed at the Open Door Lofts recently. It was lovely. The lofts were quaint, chic, clean and very comfortable. It is located in the heart of Ponta Delgada. There was good WiFi and AC that was very refreshing for the hot humid days. Near by are some beautiful historical sites and shops like Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres, Jardins and Mãe de Deus. I also fell in love with the near by Gelato, fado at Casa do Bacalhau, and the Oceanside Dock Pool. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner/ operator, Margarida and Tim who were wonderful individuals. They left me in the hands of Sr Marcos who was very supportive and looked after us while we were there. He has a vast knowledge of the area and made our stay seem like home.
