Avenue View Rooms — Hotel in Porto

We booked this hotel very last minute and didn’t look into the details. Thankfully we didn’t approach any bed bugs or mold, however the rooms did not feel clean or private at all. The bedding felt damp and didn’t fit well on the pillows, which made it feel really unhygienic.

The facility had very cheap feel doors, closets, very uncomfortable rug (which I wouldn’t step on without our shoes). Tv was a great bonus. Location was actually not that bad, but no public transport buses take card, so we always had to walk 30+mins to get to the city center.

We didn’t use the shower during our stay, simply because we were disguised, it smelled bad, the sink was yellow and it all just felt so unhygienic. There were only two toilets for 7rooms (or at the time we stayed that was the case) - so that also felt pretty uncomfortable to wait in line in the morning etc. All dishes in the kitchen were dirty. One morning I decided to cook eggs, the pan was okay, but I had to wash the plates before using - same goes for the bowls.

As I understand - the young workers that welcomed us at the reception are also in charge of the cleaning, which I understand can be hard for them to manage. I’m also only a teenager and I can imagine how much of a work load they must have - I think to invest into a cleaning lady or more professional cleaning equipment would be great for this hotel. Otherwise we didn’t have a problem, booking was on the cheaper side.

i regret booking this hostel. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by a grumpy staff member who didn’t seem to care about guests at all. The room I was assigned was dirty, with stains on the sheets and a musty smell that never went away. The bathroom was in terrible condition – the shower barely worked, and there was mold everywhere.

The noise level was unbearable, with loud partying going on until the early hours of the morning, and no one from the staff did anything about it. I couldn’t even get a good night’s sleep, which completely ruined my stay.

Additionally, the Wi-Fi barely worked, and the common areas were overcrowded and uncomfortable. There was also a distinct lack of amenities that were promised in the listing, such as breakfast and a working kitchen.

For the price, this hostel is not worth it. There are many better options in the area. I will never return and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Do yourself a favor and...
