Praça Boavista - Slow & Honest Food — Restaurant in Porto

We spotted this delightful looking place while shopping in Boavista. We were just looking for a snack and a drink and it looked very nice place. The first thing we noticed was a lack of a sign to tell us if it was a restaurant or a bar but we entered. Although there was several staff nobody welcomed us, there were 3 ladies drinking wine at one table, all the other tables were empty, we sat down and waited 10 minutes, in this 10 minutes the staff looked really busy with themselves with no acknowledgement of our presence, eventually a waiter appears with one coffee which we obviously didn’t ordered, so we asked him is this a restaurant? A bar? He said it’s both but all the tables were reserved (maybe some reserved signs would help!), we suggested if we could sit at the bar, he said yes and brought us the menu but never cameback for the order so another 10 minutes later (still no new customers) we asked another waiter to take our order ( 2 glasses of wine and some nibbles), eventually 2 empty glasses appeared followed sometime later by the wine, followed by 2 empty plates and after some mooooooore time the nibbles. The ambiance, the decor, the music is all very good BUT I would suggest that the owner of this bar is incapable of running a business, it seems to have created a place for his/hers friends to chat with each other instead of attending to their customers. Our reply to feedback. We know what we ordered, you've got the wrong diners. Dish #1 The beef can be as 100% whatever you like, it's still tasteless. The burger had no sauce (we're not talking ketchup and you know it). We've had Gordon Ramsey burgers for a similar price and a world of difference. Dish #2 Ours was the parmesan Vege option (not what you commented), it looks like a lasagne but its more like a mud of ingredients. Above all, the quality of all the dishes does not match the price. Way overpriced! Super nice place, great ambiance. Terrible shame about the food. On balance, missed opportunity and dreadful value for money. Visited with some friends having enjoyed wine outside. The inside looked very cosy... and it is. But... #1 The burger was devoid of flavour, no sauces, cheap lettuce, tasteless beef (if indeed it was meat). #2 The Vege option was like a sloppy miscellaneous brick of mud, also missing seasoning. #3 The jar turned up shockingly anti-aesthetic. #4 Asian rice, decent enough but not for the price. Overall great experience. We were a group of 3 who all went in blind with no idea of what to expect and we were all pleasantly surprised. The space itself is great, the small outdoor area is amazing for the summer and spring, during the winter it made a great place to have a drink while waiting for your ride-share to get going. The interior is cozy, all tables have a pew of the kitchen which add to the experience, the music playing for the mood perfectly. The food was good, we got the wontons for the started and we all regretted not getting more. We then went on to share the Mango Thai salad, the fried squid and then fried rice. It was all amazing, the service was great and friendly. We had a waiter who had just started that day and he was kind and made sure to answer all our questions even if he had to go back and ask.
