My wife and I travel to Europe at least once a year. I've stayed in Paris, Rome, Florence, and recently, Lisbon. It's just here in Porto that I've encountered the worst hotel service throughout Europe. I lost cash inside a locked safe and credit cards as well. The hotel did not offer any assistance nor any form of customer service. They can't even show me the entry logs to our hotel room; they are likely shielding the culprit. This is simply wrong as you choose to stay in a hotel not just for comfort but also for its security, where you can leave your valuables with confidence that they remain there when you return. In this regard, Hotel da Bolsa is a failure and a fraud. They are more concerned with shielding themselves from any liability, instead of helping us out. They should get out of the service industry.

The rooms are also not impressive, with the lack of basic amenities (e.g., mini-bar fridge, water service, etc.). The only saving grace is its proximity to the iconic locations in the city, and its serviceable buffet breakfast. All in all, I might as well have stayed in a terrible hostel. Avoid this place like the plague to prevent your valuables from being stolen. Would've rated them -5...

perfect according to rate of 3 stars. clean, big, high ceilings room. renovated bathroom, basic amenities, safe box in your room, new windows. modern lighting, flat tv with 333000, lol, chanals. comfortable firm mattress, bidet for those who want to use it and know haw to. most important is the location. 10 out of 10. old town, perfectly position between pallace de bolsa and Ribera. water promenade or city center equal 10 min up or down hill. restaurants from 7 dollars to sky is the limit dollars. shopping, mostly souvenirs, ruther trinkets wchich we buy and in a few week don't know why. pharmacy, old train station, must see, 10 min walk. Cathedral, 15 min walk. all close by. breakfast is basic with cold cuts, local bread and sweats, fruits, coffe, tea, juice. you can make fresh orange juice by yourself. nice touch. only one coffe machine. give yourself an extra few mins. very friendly and helpful stuff. no language barrier. absolutely worth between 90 to 150 dollars per night, depends on the season. so far comfortable, cozy. stay over and enjoy beautiful porto, braga, Douro valle and more. happy travel,...

Just back from a week's stay here. First the good points- The location is excellent -in the centre of the historical district, close to the Douro river and the Sao Bento station, making the whole of Porto easy to access. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were in room 101 which was a decent size and very clean. The bed was huge and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water in the bathroom with sparkling white towels. Toiletries were provided. The breakfaast room is light and airy, with helpful staff.|The cons -check in at 4 pm is very late if you have an early flight. We arrived at 9,30 am having been awake since 3.30am. Even if we couldn't check in, it would have been nice to be offered a coffee or some form of refreshment. The carpets on our landing were heavily stained and need replacing. Breakfast was the same every day and food was very slow to be topped up. |Suggested improvements -A tea/coffee tray in the room and perhaps a self serve coffee machine in the small lounge downstairs.|All in all a pleasant hotel. Would we stay again-yes if the...

Good value for a short stay in the center of Porto For the price (50€ for a small standard room + 3€ tourist tax), this is a decent 2–3 star hotel if you’re in Porto for 1–2 nights and just need a place to sleep. Pros: • Great location, right in the city center • Room 605 had a nice city view • Breakfast (€12) was varied and tasty — eggs, coffee, fruit, cheese, cold cuts, pastries Cons: • Very old hotel with dated furniture and a musty smell in the room • Extremely noisy, even on the 6th floor — live music and restaurants right under the windows Cleanliness: The room was clean upon arrival. I stayed for two nights and didn’t need housekeeping. Staff: The man at reception was very kind and patient.

It has 3 stars, and that’s what it’s worth. The room we had was spacious, if a bit outdated in terms of furnishings. We were in the 4th floor, but the windows were on the 4.5th, with little stairs leading up to them, which was a bit awkward, as you can only see the sky, not the city. The bathroom was tiny, but updated nicely, although you had to twist your arm when reaching for the toilet paper which was on the wall behind, but above / next to the head. The location is good for walking the historic old city. Staff was very friendly. We had breakfast included, and they had lots of variety, even for vegans (soy milk included).
