From the moment I arrived at Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel, I was enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The breathtaking architecture, steeped in history, immediately caught my eye and set the stage for a memorable stay. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and exceptional service, ensuring that my experience was nothing short of perfect. The attention to detail in every aspect of the hotel, from the decor to the amenities, truly reflects a commitment to guest satisfaction. My room was a haven of comfort, beautifully appointed with modern touches while still honoring the building's rich heritage. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches that made my stay even more enjoyable. Location-wise, Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel is ideally situated, allowing easy access to some of the city's most iconic attractions. After a day of exploring, I relished returning to the hotel for a cozy evening, where I could unwind with a drink and soak in the ambiance - outdoors. Overall, my experience at Porto A.S. 1829 Hotel was nothing short of magical. I left with cherished memories and a desire to return. If you're looking for a place that combines history, comfort, and impeccable service, I wholeheartedly recommend you try it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

This hotel, is more or less in the middle of the older part of the city, known as Ribeira with the narrow, cobbled streets dotted with small bars and eateries serving classic Portuguese fare like grilled sardines. The hotel staff, as I often comment are again wonderful and caring with good English, the rooms as other have commented are small (but well laid out, and fully in keeping with the style and area, and in a family owned and run hotel with a lovely history that starts in 1829 as shop serving the art, typography and creative needs of Porto. The breakfasts here are good too, as is coffee and snacks over the course of the day. Outside is a popular pitch for street entertainers, watch out for the also sax guy (see my videos) he is very good, this I guess also can be annoying for some, but embrace this few days here for what it is! There are some cheaper bars and places near by, over the road is the excellent puro 4050 and just down towards the river Mae (see my reviews) both worth booking and eat inside for maximum enjoyment and atmosphere...

This was the perfect hotel for me in Porto, it is a smaller property which gave the whole experience a more intimate feel. From check-in to check-out the staff could not have been more friendly and attentive. Whenever I had a question, they were welcoming and helped me find an answer. The property is beautiful and perfectly located for exploring the Old Town around the river. It had a great mix of modern amenities but maintained the character of the neighborhood. My room was a little small but very comfortable, clean and had a double-door balcony that opened to an amazing city view. The restaurant has great décor again blending modern with an old-world charm. The breakfast buffet had a good choice of cold and hot options; it was open from 7:30 – 10:30 which gave me the flexibility to sleep later some days. I was visiting Porto as a tourist, and everything I wanted to see was a comfortable walking distance from the hotel. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay in the Ribeira area of Porto.

Even before we arrived for our stay at this hotel we received an excellent service. They recommended and booked restaurants for us. When we arrived around noon both our rooms were available and we were allowed access to them, However before we went up we were offered a glass of port and a Pasteis de Nata, which was a lovely touch.||One of the unique aspects of this hotel is that it is in a stationery shop that is still open for business. This is reflected in the artwork and objects throughout the hotel. For instance on the landing on our floor there were some old typewriters displayed.||We had two rooms, each unique in their own way. The rooms are simple, stylish and well thought out. The beds were comfortable. There were sufficient guest sockets available to charge devices. There was adequate space to put away and hang clothes for a long weekend. Our bathroom was small but not too small. The shower was powerful and the cabinet was snug. There are good products in the bathroom. Good towels, robes and slippers were provided. There was a fridge in the room with free water and milk (for coffee/tea making). Each day fresh bottles of water were supplied.||For breakfast there was a good range of foods on offer (including pastel de nata). Coffee was from a Nespresso machine. Breakfast is served in the dining room of their restaurant. ||The staff were always friendly and helpful.||In terms of location, it is very central in a small square with great access to all the main sites. If you like Pastel de Nata, then even more importantly, it is really close to Castro, where the best Pastel de Nata are made. There are always queues outside the store and inside you can even see into the kitchens where the cooks are making the tarts. ||Buskers do have a spot outside the hotel, but they do stop playing relatively early. ||I couldn't more highly recommend this wonderful...

We loved our experience at Porto A.S. 1829 hotel last week!! We arrived after an early morning flight and were told our room wasn't ready yet (understandable) but that they could call us as soon as it was and they called by around noon which was so lovely so we could get into our room and relax. The hotel is small, there's not much lobby to speak of. There is a restaurant and bar attached but we didn't try either. There are TONS of other great restaurnats in the square outside the hotel and in the few blocks surrounding the hotel. The location is phenomenal! There are definitely stairs and uphill climbs all around (but that's Porto). It's a short walk to cathedral and many other sites. We did a small "train" tour (open train car on the road) that was lovely to get an understanding of the lay of Porto. The front desk was very helpful with any questions we had. The AC worked very well in the room which was a blessing in the midday heat. We booked a familiar room which was perfect for our group of three adults! It includes a bed on the main floor/entry and a short set of steps up to a loft with another bed! There was AC in both locations. The shower room is a bit small (typical of Europe) and my main complaint is that the shower stall is not completely enclosed, but has a small bit of glass and is open to the bathroom. It was definitely functional but a bit messy. The sink is outside the shower/toilet room. There are slippers and robes included for all guests which was a nice touch. No wardrobe per se. But there was a space to hang a few things. There is also a mini fridge which was very welcome to store waters and fruit. All in all a lovely place to...
