Not exactly a hotel, there is no desk and no staff. Not exactly a bed & breakfast, there is no breakfast. The old rather run down outside belies the sleek modern brand new (November 2016) interior. Starting on the 4th floor of an old building, next to a bank and across the street from a little park and the Marques de Pombal metro station. The neighborhood looks a bit sketchy, but we felt safe. The door is a little hard to find, and you must call or text ahead so the manager can be there to meet you and let you in. There is an intercom next to the door to call him to come down and unlock the street door. Inside there are 9 rooms, only 3 of which have private baths. Our room, #1, had a gorgeous black and white marble bathroom and a little balcony overlooking the town. It was very sleek and modern, immaculately clean. One flight up was a full kitchen, a living room and dining tables. Original watercolor art was on the walls of the hall. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, pots, utensils, a fridge, stove, microwave. the living room has a bookshelf with books and TV and comfortable sofas. It looks like it all came from IKEA. (I mean that in a good way). Nice views from the windows. Our room was small, but adequate. Free wi-fi and a TV. Jose, the manager, was very friendly and helpful. Just be sure to let him know what time you expect to arrive as nobody is on site. If you are driving, the underground parking garage is around the corner for 2.50 euros/day. The location is ok, but you would need a taxi to get down to the Center. Or take the metro across the street. Over all, a good experience, I would definitely stay...
Read moreThis place is amazing!!! There are plenty of rooms to choose from. Very clean and stylish. I feel like the architecture of this place is very well thought of. By placing the kitchen and living room upstairs, it does not affect the smell of all the bedrooms.
Especially if your family is big and others are sensitive with, let's say, fish. You can cook all the fish you want and you will never smell it.
I couldn't say about the service that much because it is my in laws who booked it, but they didn't complain, and it looks like they are happy, so if they are happy, I am happy.
The place is right next to a bus stop and train station, how great is that!
Overall, it was a great experience. To all my fellow renters (especially Americans), please don't trash the place. Show some respect and keep it clean. I was trying not to write this review to keep it hidden for the general public so that it doesn't get messed up by inconsiderate people. But I want to go back to Porto, and how can this place stay in business if it doesn't get customer.
So please hope you see this review. Enjoy the place but...
Read moreWe spend our 3 week trips nights in many a place and we really loved it here.||Very friendly welcome and host, even emailed us his favorites of the city.||A big, light and cosy communal space with plenty of sitting and eating spots and a very well stocked kitchen to use. ||Very clean rooms with private balcony and comfortable bed.||Clean bathrooms (shared) with double shower.||With the only downside of a not so soundproof door, we really liked it and would defiantly...
