GuestHouse Marquês — Hotel in Porto

We stayed at this fantastic guesthouse for 4 nights whilst visiting Porto and we were delighted with the whole experience. The guesthouse is in a perfect location; directly opposite the Metro Station and within walking distance of local amenities such as the local supermarket. It is a 10 minute metro ride into the centre of Porto.|We had a late flight into Porto however that was no barrier. The staff member on the front desk checked us in very efficiently. Our room was on the top floor and it was comfortable, meeting our needs for our stay. We did not expect a balcony so this was an added bonus/luxury - overlooking the square below. The housekeeping team were fantastic and cleaned our room daily - they were very good at their job.|The price that we paid was an absolute bargain for the middle of August. |We loved our stay at this guesthouse and would not hesitate to return the next time we visit Porto. The location is fantastic, literally right next to a square with a metro station entrance, and a laundromat, small shop with basic groceries, post office, restaurant and cafe nearby. Using the Metro I was usually less than 15 minutes from where I wanted to go. ||||The staff are super friendly, and carried my bags up the stairs for me (no elevator). They also let me store my bags there on the day I checked out as my train didn’t leave until later in the day. ||||The room including the bathroom was really clean, spacious and had a small kitchenette with microwave and fridge. ||||The wifi was okay for me just looking up bits here and there but potentially a bit slow if you were going to work...

Uber found the place easily and we got a friendly and helpful greeting from the staff who thankfully helped us with the luggage up 6 flights of stairs to room 8 (no lift but good exercise for the thighs!). The room was generally very clean except for the top of the wardrobe, firm beds as is the norm in Portugal but slept very well. The accommodation is traditional and we had a great view of the park. Within the park is a cafe and access to the metro, at the front door is a bus stop and taxi rank, all very convenient.
