Once again Trip Advisor came good as I chose this placed based on the excellent reviews.||||Right from the start communication was first class and it was clear that the hosts wanted to do everything to help. On checking in we were greeted by Artur and his ingenious lift system for our luggage and welcomed with a port and a delicious pasteis de nata. He then proceeded to give a detailed explanation of what to see and do in Porto, complete with map and printed sheets - although I had my own plans many of these matched them and there were some new suggestions.||||We were lucky enough to have room 4 which has its own private terrace which catches the afternoon sun. The whole building is immaculate and stylishly decorated, our room had a wonderful bathroom with multijet shower and large bedroom with plenty of storage space. The wifi signal was strong.||||Breakfast was in a nice dining area and really good with plenty of options to help yourself (meats, cheeses, eggs, salad, cereal, amazing breads and pastries, yogurt, toast etc) and Artur serving drinks. From 3pm we could help ourselves to anything in the kitchen - a little snack of cheese and bread and a pastry was most welcome after a long day touring the city.||||The location is about 20 minutes walk to town (downhill) but right next to a metro station and with a supermarket just around the corner.||||Artur is proud of his city (and his country) and full of knowledge which he is eager to share. He even suggested a lovely stop off on in Aveiro our way down to Coimbra after we left which we otherwise wouldn't have known about.||||This place deserves its high ranking on here and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or to stay again when we next visit...

And he is available all morning.||- Nice neighbourhood, restaurants/cafes, post office, banks etc||- Free parking next door||||Cons:||- City view suite - not a city view, it’s of the buildings across the road.||- Hard to locate on the street, property sign is so small, about 5cm wide. Look for it by the street number.||- Stairs, you have to carry your luggage up at least one level.||- under new owners (since Dec 2018), so you don’t get the welcome port, pastries, luggage help, etc that is on all the reviews. ||- Nobody is available at the property in the afternoon or evening for check-in, so make sure you pre-organise with owner for a check-in time. (We booked through Agoda, and it said checkin was from 3pm-8pm, and the contact phone number on our booking belonged to the previous owner. So we had a very stressful checkin with 5 phone calls to the previous owner who eventually contacted the current owner who sent his cleaner to let us in. Others staying said they had similar experiences)||||Overall we loved our stay and...
Read moreWhen we first saw the outside of this place we wondered "what have we done". Rang the bell and was amazed at the modern facility. We were warmly greeted and welcomed. The owner had already printed a map of Porto and a list of sights for us. There is no lift, however, the stairs are wide and the owner will gladly handle your luggage with his unique lift. The rooms are considerably large, modern, clean and comfortable. The shower is amazing. A bottle of wine and some pastries were waiting for us when we returned to our room in the evening. We were invited to use the kitchen facilities at any time. A nice breakfast was served the next morning. The owner pays for guests to use the car parking facility located just past the hotel. It is a large, safe area, with an attendant on duty. Restaurants are near by and it is not a far walk into the main area of Porto, The subway is also a short walk from the hotel. The couple who run this facility wants their guests to go away happy and we did. This was a great choice for our stay in Porto. The outside doors to the facility are original and are in keeping with the overall appearance of the area. (Owners, don't ever change them). The owners also gave us great advice for touring the Douro...
