Ultimately dissatisfied with this property. Maria was the host on duty when we arrived, except that we caught her as she was running out, 20 minutes earlier than when she told us she would be leaving. She saw that we were a bit overwhelmed, left anyway, saying that she sent a message on Booking and no other guests had an issue. |Well, we had an issue. No one to explain where to go, what to expect. We found a single frayed, stained hand towel hanging in the bathroom, two pretty threadbare towels on the bed. Bathroom door didn’t latch. Our supposed one bedroom was really a studio apartment with closets demarcating boundaries, but they did not reach the ceiling so every light, every bathroom noise was seen and heard throughout. No privacy whatsoever. The blackout drapes were defective, we couldn’t open or close and had had to arrange chairs to pin them against the wall. One bedroom light was burned out. |We reached out to the WhatsApp number and Vinny came from a completely different location, gave us replacement towels and suggestions on where to eat and go. Essentially everything Maria was supposed to do, but did not. |We met Ursula the following morning, and while she was friendly and validating, we barely saw her afterwards. No one told us, for example, that the following day was a national holiday and all museums, banks and many eateries would be closed. We were actually advised by Vinnie to go wander town and go to the museums that day, tour the Douro Valley the day before. We needed more toilet paper, coffee pods. Ultimately we just went to the market and bought our own. |The apartment is clean and the location is wonderful. But it is bare bones. Go shopping before you come, as nothing is there for you. It is a place to sleep, but you are on your own. It is NOT soundproof. You will hear your upstairs neighbors every step, the whole floor will shake when a vehicle drives by. |It could have been so much better had the hosts showed up...

Read moreStayed here one night as a female solo traveller. The room itself is a good size and with good lighting, accessibility of plug sockets and facilities in the room. Breakfast was nice, and what I didn’t initially eat I took with me for my journey home, but it was supplied in the morning in a cute paper bag. If I had been staying longer and at a warmer time of year, I’m sure the balcony would have been great to use because it looked nice. Couldn’t fault the lovely lady working there who was prompt with her replies and gave me suggestions about where to go and visit. Nice and modern and clean in the building in general with a working lift. I had stayed here one night as my ‘holiday’ after already staying five nights elsewhere for a work conference. In terms of location, the other place I’d stayed had been much better for access to places within the historic centre, there was a bit more walking with this place, and although the building inside was nice, I didn’t personally feel very comfortable when I was returning to the place at night with its location. But it is still just round the corner from modern shopping places and a metro station. Bed and such were lovely and clean, but there was some black mould above the shower and using the coffee pod machine gave me the impression it hadn’t been cleaned out in a while. Other than that the room was fine and despite the location it was...
