I stood there for two nights and, being born during the communist era, I couldn't help remembering the bulky outdated furniture. However, there was a contemporary color TV placed on a table, in front of a mirror, so that you can enjoy admiring the upper half of your body in it if you're tall enough.||The floor was covered with pieces of carpets (of the same design) joined together in unusual ways, like they were recovered from some place else. They were bearing a few cigarette marks. Also on the floor I have found and killed the bug in the attached picture, reported my victory at the reception desk and asked the receptionist to send someone to remove the corpse. The dead bug was still there 24 hours later, when I checked out.||The breakfast is for the brave. Because the hotel is established in a former communist block of flats, you get to have breakfast in a 3 by 3 meters (10 by 10 feet) room where 6 people would be a real crowd. The old domestic-use toaster toasts the cheap supermarket bread spreading a heavy vinegar odor into the air. You have a few slices of different kinds of salami to chose from, and a couple of boiled eggs too. They also have some cheese. ||There's a lady who brings you coffee if you ask, after having heated it on a hob in an adjacent room that seems to be the kitchen. She says if you want to order anything else, you can ask her. Then she leaves. ||The bathroom is neither clean, nor unclean, I have only noticed that the gel in the flask in the shower cabin was heavily diluted.||The bed sheets were basically clean. ||WiFi working very good - as almost everywhere in Romania||||So, to conclude, if you're not a breakfast fan, you don't care too much about indoor design, if you like nature and don't mind sharing your space with critters, dead or alive, but you want to spend a night in the very center of Bucharest, this is the place you are...
Read moreSituated right in the middle of Bucharest, a short walk away from Old Town, Horoscop Restaurant is one of those places that have stood the test of time and still march on, to this day. It’s quite visible from the outside, since it takes up a lot of floor room, but the entrances are not grand. Once inside, it feels like it’s from a different era. It’s clean, it’s well-maintained, but it just seems to not have changed for the past decade or two. The dining hall has an odd layout and a few support beams may prove dangerous for anyone taller than a child, when navigating the restaurant. The staff is very friendly though, and you can easily get along and have fun with them, if you’re open to that. And the food does taste great. There not the sense of something extravagant, more of something classic, well-made and carefully laid out. Prices are also decent, considering what you get for the money. If you can get past the initial reaction to the general look of the place, it is...
Read moreThis hotel has a very good location. The rooms are ok, but the staff can't solve any problems. The minibar fridge wasn't working in my room, so I informed the girl at the reception. First she came to check it and then she send the man at the bar to check it. They said: "Sorry but it doesn't work." That's it. The hotel wasn't full so they could change my room, but they didn't. I explained the the reason why I needed the fridge but they didn't care. I had to drink hot water and hot coke in a hot weather. The breakfast was very poor. It's served in a small room. The lady comes to give you a cup of coffee and then she disappears. So, the only thing I liked about this hotel is its location....
