Big Ben Pub — Restaurant in Bucharest

March 23 - Service was OK. Steak quite fatty, ribs were good.

Oct 25 - We had booked this a few weeks in advance for a party of 14. There was quite a bit of trouble getting a booking. We had messaged on multiple platforms and emailed without response. We had also tried to call a number of times and had not been able to get through.

We arrived and the table was ready.

First problem is a waitress told us that food order would take 2 hours. We questioned this with other staff and was told that was not true and it would be quite quick and it did come out only 30 minutes after ordering. A couple of issues: someone ordered a glass of water and had to ask 3 times for this the steaks come out with no pepper corn sauce and when asked was told this had run out - there was also no grilled vegetables onion rings on to the burger were stone cold some of the meals were just “warm”

I appreciate it’s a big table we had.

Also they didn’t bring out 2 dishes we ordered. 1 wasn’t on the bill but the other was (a garlic cheese bread) however they tried to tell me that it did come to the table which it definitely didn’t either way they took it off the bill but I don’t want to be called a liar.

The toilets were also very flooded this might have been due to the rain fall that was very heavy that day but the men’s toilets were closed.

Oh they also told the birthday person they were going to bring her a special gift (a cake) for her birthday and this never arrived.

With some improvements this could be great but they just aren’t on...

What a shambles! I stopped by for a quick pint, maybe two. Upon taking my order, the waitress already seemed annoyed. (Maybe she was calculating her tips? Expected 10% of a 13-RON order doesn't give much, tipwise). I let it slide, though; with language barrier and killing summer heat, well, why make a federal case?)

Upon finishing my second pint I asked for the bill. 5 minutes passed ... fair enough. Maybe she's new? 10 mins passed. Right... 16 mins, and I decided to step inside to see if I could see her anywhere. Nope.

Nevermind; I got hold of one of her colleagues, who went to print my bill. 26 lei in total; I gave him a 50. Off he ran, and in the meantime Miss Waitress had resurrected. "If I want to pay?". Well, your colleague is taking care of it, I explained. Hell, if she looked sulky before, she was looking super-pi**ed now.

Because I was in a hurry now (I had somewhere to be), when she (and not waiter dude (?)) came back with my change, I didn't count it immediately (my bad). I later saw she'd given me only 20 back, meaning she'd awarded herself 4 lei in tips.

You know what? Keep it, lady. Truth be told, that's what I was initially planning to give in the first place. But I'll be damned if I'm ever visiting your...

Worst experience possible. We were a group of five and ordered five dishes, clearly specifying our preferences and, above all, allergies. One of us was vegetarian, yet her order came with bacon. Another person has a peanut allergy, and even after repeating it several times (and stressing that it’s dangerous!), they served her a burger with peanut butter. This is not just a lack of professionalism — it’s putting a customer’s health at risk.

But it doesn’t end there: not a single burger arrived as we ordered. Every one of them had ingredients we had specifically asked to be removed. Is it really that hard to read a ticket and follow the instructions?

The way they treated the minors in our group was inappropriate, with an unpleasant tone, and the icing on the cake was the manager yelling at us in the middle of the restaurant. A total lack of respect, zero customer service, and a complete absence of organization.

I wouldn’t recommend this place even if it were the only one open...
